Tooth Fairy Ideas 21 Aug 2015 8:44 AM (9 years ago)

This week we have been celebrating The Tooth Fairy! Saturday is National Tooth Fairy Day! On Monday, we looked at some unique ways to hold your tooth for the tooth fairy. Wednesday we looked at some adorable gifts idea for your kids from the tooth fairy. Today, let's check out some more unique ideas for the tooth fairy!

Check out these adorable door hangers from A-manda Creation. What a cute way to let the tooth fairy know she needs to make a stop in your child's room.

Look at this list by HubPages of great books to read the night before the tooth fairy come!

We are continuing with Tooth Fairy week here as the National Tooth Fairy Day approaches! (it's Saturday!)  Today I am sharing lots of fun ideas for things the Tooth Fairy might leave in exchange for a sparkly white tooth!  Of course the going rate varies, and has gone up dramatically since I was a kid but with ideas like this, your child is sure to love the magic of the Tooth Fairy!
There are so many cute ways to fold $1 origami!  Even if your child is just getting $1 for their tooth, wouldn't it be even more awesome if it was shaped like an elephant?!  Or you could make the little money box and put a few coins in it too!  Such a cute way to give money. Check out these cute Origami ideas from Origami Resource Center.
The Tooth Fairy could also leave these adorable tooth receipts by A-manda Creation when she picks up a tooth!  There's space to write in the child's name, age and date and it's signed by the Tooth Fairy herself!
aw_tooth_receipts
The Tooth Fairy might also leave money with some "fairy dust" still on it!  Just a little bit of glue and glitter and it's magical. You could also use glitter hair spray for this effect. This dust idea by TenKidsandaDog is too cute!
There may be times when the Tooth Fairy wants to leave a note for your child.  Perhaps it's to congratulate them on not having any cavities. Or maybe she needs to encourage better brushing.  Well she can leave her note on her own personal stationary by A-manda Creation!  It's blank so she can change the message each time.  I even saw a tooth fairy who once left a note that the room was so messy she couldn't get to the tooth and she would come back when it was cleaned up! (Genius if you ask me!)
aw_tooth_stationary
Some other fun items the Tooth Fairy could leave:
Gold Dollars, these are a favorite in our house, they are GOLD coins!  My boys go crazy for those!
A new tooth brush, maybe a fun spinny one they don't usually get
A new book about brushing teeth, or another book they would like
Stickers!
Speaking of stickers, I still remember one particular Tooth Fairy visit from my childhood.  The Tooth Fairy left me stickers, but not just any stickers.  They were fancy stickers.  They were scratch and sniff!  The theme of the sticker pack?  Fish.  Yeah apparently the Tooth Fairy just thought they were cute and didn't realize that when you scratched them they were actually going to small like dead fish.  They were so disgusting. To this day I still remember those gross stickers.  And that makes me think, maybe they weren't so bad if they were something I am still able to remmber 25-30 years later right?
So that got me thinking, my crazy gross boys would probably LOVE smelly stickers, so I did a quick search and what do you know! Amazon carries them! They sell stinky scratch and sniff stickers!  Now I am not saying the Tooth Fairy should leave these, but ours just might in an effort to be remembered forever!!!

Happy National Lemonade Day! Let's celebrate with a FREE printable! 20 Aug 2015 11:27 AM (9 years ago)

It's National Lemonade Day!  Time to celebrate with a nice, big, cold glass of LEMONADE!  I creatd this fun printable for you today to go along with Lemonade Day! It's an adorable water bottle and matching tag set.
The tag says Take is "Squ"easy.  I love a good pun in case you didn't realize that yet!  It's simple and cute!  And here I just picked up some of those individual lemonade packets, mine are Crystal Light brand.
I punched a hole though the lemonade packet and the tag and tied them around the water bottle with some cute ribbon ,Then I just wrapped the water bottle wrapper around and that's it! It's ready to hand out as a cute little treat!

Fun S'more Recipes 14 Aug 2015 7:36 AM (9 years ago)

This week we have been celebrating S'mores! That ooey, gooey goodness is sure to make any party a hit. Today I have found a few of my favorite S'more Flavors and want to share the recipes with you. Who is ready for some yummy S'mores??
Check out this amazing recipe for S'mores Crescent Rolls byLemon Tree Dwelling...so yummy yet hearty and perfect when you aren't fireside!
1 can refrigerated crescent rolls (8 count)
¼ c. Nutella
64 mini marshmallows
40 chocolate chips
2 graham crackers
Instructions
Unroll crescent dough into triangles.
Top each with 1 tsp. Nutella, 8 mini marshmallows, 5 chocolate chips, and ¼ graham cracker (broken into pieces).
Carefully roll dough into crescent shape, starting at the wide end and working your way to the point.
Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
Drizzle with remaining Nutella (you may have to heat it slightly to make it the right consistency).
How about this recipe for Chocolate S'mores Cookie Bars by the Baker Upstairs. A wonderful way to combine the crunch of graham cracker and the gooeyness of marshmallows into an easy to eat cookie bar.
1 sleeve graham crackers, more or less as needed
1 stick butter, room temperature
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
2/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted (I did mine in the microwave at 50% power)
1 egg + 1 egg yolk
3/4 cup flour
1/4 cup cake flour
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/3 cup miniature marshmallows
for topping:
2 graham crackers, broken up into small pieces
1 1/2 cups miniature marshmallows
2 Hershey's candy bars, broken into squares
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350. Line a 9 x 13 pan with tin foil or parchment paper. Make a single layer of graham crackers covering the bottom of the pan, breaking the crackers as needed to make them fit. Set aside. In the bowl of a stand mixer or a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugars. Mix in melted chocolate, then mix in egg and egg yolk until just combined. In a separate bowl, whisk together flours, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt, then add to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in remaining chocolate chips and 1/3 cup mini marshmallows. Spread cookie dough over the graham crackers. (To be honest, this part was a little frustrating... I think the best way to do it is to scoop cookie dough evenly over the crackers, and then use your hands to pat the dough into an even layer.)
Place in the oven and bake six minutes. Remove and sprinkle the dough evenly with graham cracker pieces, marshmallows, and candy bar squares. Use your hands to gently press the toppings into the dough slightly. Bake an additional 10-12 minutes, or until marshmallows are lightly browned. Remove from oven and let cool 30 minutes before removing from the pan. I cut mine into 18 squares, and they were the perfect size for me.
And last but not least, check out these Vegan and Gluten Free S'mores Cupcakes by Pickels and Honey. How cool is that? Not only can you enjoy the taste of S'mores but you do it in a fairly healthy way for those families that may need Vegan and Gluten Free!
For the Vegan Buttermilk:
½ cup + 2 tablespoons non-dairy milk (I used homemade unsweetened almond milk)
2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
For the Cupcakes:
½ cup sorghum flour
½ cup brown rice flour
â…“ cup coconut sugar
¼ cup freshly ground flax seeds
2 tablespoons coconut flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon fine sea salt
â…“ cup unsweetened applesauce
2 tablespoons coconut oil, melted, plus additional for greasing the pan
½ teaspoon vanilla bean powder
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
â…› teaspoon almond extract
For the Topping:
½ cup vegan chocolate chips
1 teaspoon coconut oil
For the Garnish:
1 vegan marshmallow per cupcake
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
Lightly grease a cupcake pan.
Prepare the vegan buttermilk by combining the non-dairy milk with the apple cider vinegar. Whisk well and allow to sit for 5-10 minutes to curdle.
In a large bowl, mix together the sorghum and brown rice flours, coconut sugar, ground flax, coconut flour, baking powder, baking soda, and sea salt.
Mix in the applesauce, coconut oil, vanilla bean powder, cinnamon, and almond extract, then stir in the buttermilk mixture.
Let the batter sit for 5 minutes to allow the coconut flour and flax to absorb the wet ingredients. The mixture should be very thick.
Using an ice cream scoop, evenly distribute the batter into the prepared baking pan.
Bake the cupcakes for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let the cupcakes cool in the pan before topping.
While the cupcakes are cooling, prepare the chocolate topping by microwaving the chocolate chips and coconut oil in a shallow microwave-safe dish for 30 second intervals, making sure to stir them well (I did two 30 second intervals to melt mine completely).
Take the completely cooled cupcakes and dip each into the melted chocolate. Using a shallow dish will make this easier and keep the cupcakes intact.
Toast the vegan marshmallows over an open flame (I used my stovetop) and top each of the cupcakes with a marshmallow.
Enjoy immediately for a messy, gooey marshmallow, melted chocolate s'mores experience!

Unique and Fun School Supplies 7 Aug 2015 9:17 AM (9 years ago)

I LOVE school supplies!  The office store is a dangerous place for me to go, I love fun colored pens, the crayon isle, new notebooks, all of it!  I especially love unique things you can't find easily, things that make the average item just a little more fun.  If you have to use school supplies, they might as well make you smile when you use them right?  Here are some really fun and unique school supplies I came across this year!  Try incorporating something silly into your everyday to make it more special!

1. Love this cute chameleon tape dispenser with the tape looking like his tongue, so silly it makes me giggle!

2. These rock shape crayons are too cute. They're rocks, they're crayons...love them!

3. Make your own chalkboard bag How cute is this for writing little notes to your kids (or spouse) each day!

4. A floppy disk blank mini notebook, do kids these days even know what these are?

5. Peel some InAnimate stickers and place 'em on everything to bring them to life! These are my favoite!

6. BIC Xtra Fun Pencils I got 2 packs of these to test out and the kids went wild for them. They are just pencils, but with a little extra fun of being two toned!

7. Launch notes to your friends + co-workers with this desktop catapult. Why send an email when ou can catapult your message across the room?

8. Two cute sharkie gel pens, I mean if you're going to use a pen, it might as well be a shark right?

9. Ketchup and Mustard retro styled pen and highlighter set is way more fun than your typical pack of highlighters!!

So there you have it! Some seriously fun and silly back to school supplies. Things don't' have to be boring, especially when there are products like these out there to be found!!

Here's a silly joke to tell someone today....

Another  way to catch the moment with the perfect photo is to add text to your photo. Find an interesting or solid background – like the side of your house, or an empty wall – to take your first day of school photo. Frame it so your child stands off to one side to leave some space for your text.

A fun way to share your love with printables! 2 Aug 2015 5:52 AM (9 years ago)

I came across this adorable printable from The Dating Divas and I knew I had to use it for me and hubby.  I have often thought about making one of those frames that says I love you because, and writing on it each day and erasing it, but then I saw this and knew this was way better and exactly what I was looking for!

I love to find fun and unique ways to celebrate everything, my love for hubby being one of them!  So I saw these posters, I picked out the I love you because poster and had it printed at my local office store.

I had it printed as an engineering print and it cost $3.59 to have it printed!  It's 24 X 36 so it's a great size. So for under $5 I have a fun way for hubby and I to share reasons we love each other!

I hung up my poster on the back wall of our closet, and so we can write on it when we are feeling inspired. I imagine after years of it hanging there it will be so full and fun looking, we can frame it and hang it somewhere else in the house.

Head over there and pick up the free printable and hang up your poster too!  And if you do, share it with us!!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar 1st Birthday Party 27 Jul 2015 5:00 AM (9 years ago)

My 3rd baby celebrated his 1st birthday a few weeks ago!  I decided to do The Very Hungry Caterpillar for his birthday theme.  Here are some highlights from his party!
Hubby helped me with my vision and made a caterpillar out of balloons and had him climbing a tree in the back yard.
My favorite go to for centerpieces is printing out some cute images and putting them on skewers.  Then I wrap a piece of floral foam in tissue paper and stuff it into the vase I got at the party store.  Fluff up some coordinating tissue paper and have it coming out of the top, then poke in the cute images and voila!  An easy and cute centerpiece! The most time consuming part is cutting out the items!

Here's the smash cake I made for him.  Yep individual frosting dots, it took me about 2 hours to decorate it.  not the most time consuming cake I've made!

Cute cupcake toppers, I opted for simple kraft cupcake liners and just left those the way they were and kept a solid color sprinkle n each cupcake, when they were all put together they looked fabulous!

A poster I made for the birthday boy.  It's 20 X 30, I just swapped it out for the family photo I usually have in the frame, worked perfectly.

Birthday banner and his chalkboard all about him, on the entry way table when guests walked in.

I wrapped up some bubbles for the kids that came to the party, and I used sixlets and put them into skinny bags to make little chocolate caterpillars.

I made up these birthday wish cards for guests to fill out for the birthday boy, it was cute to read them. Then I just put them in a 4 X 6 photo album and he has a cute keepsake from his 1st birthday.

This was my favorite. I made little caterpillars for each milestone, newborn, 3 months, 6 months and 9 months and put a picture of him on each piece of the caterpillar. It was so cute to see them all together and see how he has changed.

This was another favorite project. I made him a cute placemat to match the theme. On the front was his birthday themed one.

Then on the back LOL so he can use this all the time!  It's printed as an 11 X 17 print and laminated at the office store, cute, quick and CHEAP!

A cute high chair banner for him, though I never got a picture of him in the high chair with it, oh well!

One of the appetizers was a meat and cheese tray with butterfly crackers, I cut little circles out of each piece of food to look like the hungry caterpillar had eaten them!

One of my friends brought grape caterpillars, they were gone in minutes!  So simple yet on a stick them became super popular!

The little guy digging into his cake!  He also had a matching shirt on but didn't want to post for me to get a good picture of the shirt. It had a big 1 on it and his name, very cute :)

The aftermath

And of course a custom chalkboard for him with everything about him at the age of one!

You can get a custom chalkboard just like this one, your colors and theme here in my store: HERE
I hope you like this party and it inspires you to add a little something extra to your parties too!  It's not hard or expensive to make your parties extra special!
