For starters, I have had computer and internet troubles, so it just wasn't worth trying to get on.
Good things are happening though.....just take a look!!
We went to our son's house and he gave me his discarded computer, he gets a new one every two years. That solved my computer problem and thus enabled me to get on the internet easier.
Then my son and his family moved out and that solved the internet problem....too many fish in the pond.
After they moved out the very next day I moved into my old sewing room, decided that having more plugs would be beneficial.
Took me two days to move in and I still have a few things to put up and move around but for the most part I am in....whohooooooo
Let's take a look (my disclaimer) I have a bunch of hodge podge stuff but for me it works in a wonderful way. Maybe I will eventually repaint a few things. The old desk was in this house when we moved in but great for my computer.
Here goes....
We have a storage room where that door is. The desk and computer are on the other side of the door.
I decided to put a long table in to hold my projects that need binding. As you can see, I am already making a mess of the room....haha....doesn't take long.
My Jazz is on this table. I really need some closets to hide most of my stuff but hey, I am grateful for what I have.
Embroidery Machine, I know you are all going duhhhhhh
I don't like my back to the door that people use to come into the house. Having my machine set up this way I can see outside, see the TV, and see who comes in the door.
I didn't take a picture along the wall because I have a ton of stuff I am giving to a friend for her garage sale.
The most amazing thing is this next picture.
Yesterday I am in my sewing room with my back to the door..... I just don't like not seeing when someone is coming in. I hear my husband come in and say, "You deserve it".......I thought what???
I turned around, looked and by my leg (note: I did not notice this when I came in the room nor when I was standing there by the table), by my leg was two big boxes....I asked, what is this. I was in total shock when I saw the Janome on the side of the box. My husband said he had done his research and thought this would be a wonderful machine for me. Oh boy is it ever..... I sewed all last night. Is he a keeper or what?????
Soooooooo I AM BACK!!!!
On a side note, my sister Jeanette, at Inchworm Fabrics is having a giveaway this month. I have not gone by to check it out but I will.
jewels of advice

I have not blogged in forever.....it seems if I was sick my husband wasn't and if he was sick I wasn't.
Then a week before Christmas we both came down with Covid. I have to tell ya....it was not pretty. In the 42 years we have been married we both have not been this sick at the same time. We think our little 12 year old house guest brought it home to us from school. She was really tired one night and then she started complaining of not being able to taste anything....that is the extent of her sickness. The not being able to taste for her lasted about a week.
Our son and his family went to see our other sons a week befor Christmas so we were on our own. Our little house guest was able to return to her family.
Thank Heavens for grocery delivery. We had all kinds of cough medicine and easy foods to eat delivered. Neither of us felt like eating and our smell and taste totally disappeared. Everything tasted like cardboard.
My taste has not come back and all of you will be shocked that I don't really care for chocolate now....in fact, it kinda turns my stomach. Strange huh??? It was my staple of life but not anymore.
Well...I am not going to show what I was doing before Christmas because Christmas is gone and I was not able to finish some of my projects let alone deliver them to the intended person,
So I will show you what I have been up to this month.
Country Chic by Sew Kind of Wonderful. I have used Java Batiks from Inchworm fabrics and Island Batik Fabrics as well. I had started this before Christmas but put it away to make Christmas gifts.
I saw this sewing table around November, it was at Lowes or on their website....It was so inexpensive that I just had to get it. In fact, it actually adds more room to my room and looks so much better than the plastic table I was using. Although I have a need for speed and sometimes my table rattles...haha
This next quilt is Jump Rings from Missouri Star Quilt Company "BLOCK." This was so fun and very very fast. Very little waste. One fat quarter can make up to 4 rings, just depends.
Here are the fabrics I used....oh my gosh. In fact, these are the fabrics that my sister, Jeanette, from Inchworm fabrics sent me to advertise for her.....kinda like an ambassador. Who wouldn't pass up free fabric and such pretty fabrics.
I hope that my computer will do better this year but I doubt it. My son called and we were talking about my computer...he said, why don't you just buy a new one. I said I was toooooooo cheap. He said, well, I have an old computer in my closet. Now I have to tell ya....when my son says old, it was probably last years model. It is probably very very nice, much nicer than one I would buy. We will see...everyone cross your fingers!!!
Hope all of you have a very Happy New Year.

Christine, Jeanette's daughter, has joined the Inch Worm Fabric team, I think she is going to try to blog for Jeanette. I am excited, I get to use all the awesome fabrics in the store and Christine gets to blog about them.
I will say that when I was in her store I noticed that she had a fat quarter bundle of "Anne of Green Gables" fabric. Below are the fabrics ..... aren't they wonderful?
Last year I finished the "Starry Night" top, I was wanting to do some fancy quilting. I kept waiting and waiting....moving the top from one place to another. I know all of you out there do not do that.... Actually, I was kinda nervous to do ruler work and also, I knew that it would take me forever and I have so many other things I want to do....was that a whine?
So I decided to swirl it. Let me tell you, even swirling it took a lot of time and bobbins, I went over 12 bobbins, lost count after the 12.
I convinced my son to hold it up for me. I sooooo Love it. I will tell ya, the fabrics look kinda dull but they are not....they scream brightness.
jewels of advice

I just have to say that my most favorite time of the year is fall. I love the chill in the air and the smell of fall.
Here is the fat quarter bundle I purchased from Quilt in a Day. Riley Flake "Farm House Christmas". I just love these fabrics....Happy Birthday to me.
Next I got a surprise package from Creative Latitude, there were two skeletons but my grandson has the black one tied to his backpack. There were also some other goodies but my grandson ate those. She was just sending random people little gifts for commenting on her post. She is one amazing person and friend.
Winding Ways Accuquilt die....why am I showing you this....because I want it....haha
the reason I would like this die is because of what I am doing at the present time.

The red fabric is Island Batik but I am mostly using Java batiks.
I swore I was not going to start another project until I got a few things done but those Java Batiks from Inchworm fabrics were just screaming at me....so I had to do something.
This is going to be Country Chic by Sew Kind of Wonderful using the quick curved ruler but the winding ways would really make fast work of this. I will say that my squares are 5", making a 10 inch block. The winding ways makes an 8" finished block.
My sister, Jeanette, at Inchworm fabrics has asked me if she sent me fabric would I be willing to make some projects and post about them, kinda like an ambassador. Who doesn't like free fabric....so I jumped on that in a heart beat. My first fabric is coming this week....I am so excited.
jewels of advice

Before I show you the awesome goodness, I wanted to show you my Anne of Green Gables Quilt.
I just love the fabric by Riley Blake. I actually have all of the squares put together just no borders yet, gonna let my sister catch up some.
Okay, the next pictures are my birthday hall from Inchworm fabrics. Most of you know this is my sister, Jeanette's store. I actually purchased some fabric from Quilt in a Day but that has not come in yet.
So without further jabbering I am going to show you Java Batiks from Inchworm Fabrics Stone Java Batik Bundle
Did you know you can get a 10 fat quarter bundle of Java Batiks for 21.00 in her store?
Rose Java Batik Bundle
Blue Java Batik Bundle
Green Java Batik Bundle
Seeds of Glory 5 yard bundle by Stacy West of Buttermilk Basic Designs Co. for Riley Blake
BE STILL MY HEART...... I can not get enough batiks to save my soul
I wanted to tell you about my Juki sewing machine. I have had it for maybe 3 years.
It actually was acting funny from day one. It would go slow and then fast, finally it started shutting off. It was so bad that one night I just knew it was dead. I was really disappointed because I did not want to purchase another machine and well.....it was fairly new, and I was thinking I just ran it into the ground.
Then next day it did run but would shut off again. So I unplugged it and put it in another socket of my power cord, didn't work. So I was just going to take it to the shed and that would be that. But.....on my way out I decided to try it in the wall socket in the dinning room. Guess what, it worked. So I came back to my sewing room and put it in the last plug of the power cord, I guess that is what you call it, the cord you can plug several things into. It did work but still had issues. I was talking to my husband and we both decided to just plug it into the wall. Low and behold it worked and it worked good. No more slow then fast...no more going out. So all along it should have been plugged into the wall. I am so happy, it works better than when I got it because it has always been on a power cord with other machines and the iron.
Well....my sister, Beverly, was telling me her Juki died, her's was a little older than mine. I was so excited when I got my working again that I called her. She called me back and said her machine was working and to this day, it is still working. Yeah us!!
jewels of advice

I know you will be shocked to see that I have posted twice in one week. I told you I would show you what I have been up too since my last post about a month or so ago.
So....while I was out.
I made this Garlic Knot baby quilt. I wanted to try this pattern and what better way than with a baby quilt?
I used a Riley Blake jelly roll, had it so long that I lost the tag so I can't tell you what line, sorry.
The baby quilt was so fun that I made a larger one. Just need to quilt it. These pictures do not do some of these quilts justice. The pink is more pink....the colors are more vibrant. I just need somewhere to take pictures (was that a whine)?
My sister Jeanette and I are at it again. I loved this Anne of Green Gables Fabric by Riley Blake....so my sister and I purchased it. We saw a quilt we loved and found the Spring Star Block in the "Farm Girl Vintage" book by lori Holt and well...the rest is in the makings.

Here is all fourty-two blocks. I decided to get a few things done before I finish this quilt top.
Here is my school house quilt flimsy. I have to be honest. I did not like this. Every once in a while I do a blooper of a quilt and this was it. This is actually the twin to the Ginger Jar quilt in about two post below this one. I made these houses first and didn't like them so I made the Ginger Jar quilt. I wish you could see the border better....love the fabric and once I got it all together I am thinking, it is not so bad. I just might like it. Once again....need a better place to take pictures.
Here is my BOO!!! Quilt by Margot Languedoc. My grandson loves this quilt. I have it on a rack in my formal livingroom.
Made this cute baby quilt using my Accuquilt Go Alphabet die and the train die.
As I stated before, this quilt was the accuquilt fan die and I used scraps. I actually did not meander this quilt. It spoke to me and said....Oh no...you are not going to just meander me, so I did cobble stones around the fan and various other designs. I did meander a little but not much.
Now this little quilt I am going to make into a wheelchair quilt.....the workings are in my head....I saw various pictures and well.....we are going to wing it. Wish me luck.

SISTER QUILTS
5 Oct 2021 12:13 PM (3 years ago)

We definitely are having internet troubles over here at the Gaddy House. Drives me insane.
I think we have too many users? Hummmmm
As some of you know, I have my son and his family living here. I had cleaned out my huge sewing room several years ago and they moved in for a year. I did leave some quilty items in the room like my long arm (which I recently sold).
Anyways, I am making a short story long. I moved all of my quilty stuff out of that room and the little storage room connected to it into my smaller sewing room and our third bedroom.
Now I have another son and his son coming to live with us and there goes the third room..... I literally thought I could not bring another thing in my sewing room but each day as I clean out that room more stuff comes in. I am truly amazed with my organizational skills (ha ha). Believe it or not, I still have room to move around but every nook and cranny is crammed packed. If I go missing....come look in the crannies of my room I may have fallen and not able to get up.....
Several weeks ago I wanted to show all of you what I am going to show you now.
Here are three quilts made from the same fabrics. Java Batiks from Inchworm Fabrics, I had purchased these fabrics from her several years ago.
I know you have all seen these quilt but I am sure you didn't know they were sister quilts (made from the same fabrics).
This is "Radiant" by Cozy Quilt designs, using the Java Batiks
Isn't it amazing how different these quilts look? So I call them sister quilts.
Today I went to her store and purchased a bunch more Java batiks....it is my birthday this week, won't tell you how old I am. Anyways my husband asked what I wanted and I told him I didn't want or need anything. He said, well then he would go and buy me some expensive jewlery. I told him, that I am just not the expensive jewlery type person. He has brought me some in the past, I do love what he has purchased but I just see no need when the cheap stuff suits me just find. Did I hear someone laugh???? Ya think I am crazy? Maybe.... I am actually a cheap wife for him, I hope he appreciates it. He won't think I am cheap when he sees the bill I racked up in my sister's shop.....
Who is laughing now?
I have been busy in my sewing room .... maybe tomorrow I will show you what I have been up too....till then!!
jewels of advice

I was not swallowed by a black hole..... life just happened.
When Craftsy went out of business, I purchased two fat quarter bundles and gave one to my sister. We both decided to do this Sew Kind of Wonderful Nine Patch on Point.
91 x 91
Next is the Star of Bethlehem Quilt. One block quilt. My sister, Jeanette, came up with this idea. She sure gets me into a lot of trouble... Fits my Queen Size bed perfectly, can't remember how big it is but has a nice over hang.
This purple quilt is a block from Jaqueline Steves sew along from a few years back.
Here is the back with the beautiful Samoan fabric.
Sew Kind of Wonderful Chic Country, now this was a fun fun quilt to make and I will be making another. I used Java Batiks from Inchworm Fabrics, a few Island Batik, and Timeless Treasure fabrics.
Jeanette and I both purchased Bella Mariposa fat quarter bundle from "Quilt in a day". I made ginger jars as you see below and another quilt which is not done. My sister has hers almost done. My sister is a very busy gal, it is a wonder she gets any quilting done at all. She has a full time job and a huge yard she likes to garden in when she gets home which is usually late.
I finally finished my king size log cabin quilt. I was not able to use my longarm because once again we have family in that room, so I did it on my Jazz. I don't know if you can see but for each row of log cabin I chose a different quilting design...was loads of fun. Took me three days to quilt up. I used the Accuquilt Log Cabin die. I forgot the size, I do know width wide it is 108 because I had to add more to the backing and the backing was one of those 108" backing.

I made this little baby quilt for a sweet cousin of mine using the Accuquilt 8" Go Cube and the Sunbonnet Sue die as well.
I finally got around to making pillow cases for this quilt. Decided to put Gene Black pillow on there. The pillow was his design and I just made it into a pillow.
This is my newest project. With all of the turmoil going on I can not think of a more appropriate quilt. I just love our country. I used the Ohio Star Accuquilt Die and the Accuquilt Alphabet die.Just have to finish her up. It is for the Local Republican Woman group here in town to raffle off.
This is for a sweet little friend and her new baby. Last night I quilted it. I actually made it all in one day. I could have finished it up but my machine messed up on me so I had to rip out a whole section....pooey.
So as you can see, I have been doing a little quilting since I last posted! jewels of advice

Here is the fabric I picked out for my Tree of Life Quilt. I might change the solid green, we will see.
I did organize my fabrics and found I have way too much red. I am not a red person so I can not figure out for the life of me why I have so much?????? I also have very little purple and pink, what is up with that? Oh well...it is nice and tidy. I wish I had taken a picture but my room has been destroyed since. Don't ask me how that happened.
Blast those advertisements that come in our hotmail.....Blast!!!!!
I clicked on an ad for Sew Kind of Wonderful and went to their site. Blast it all!!
I did a tour of their free patterns and low and behold this pattern pops up. I don't know what happened...
I JUST HAD TO HAVE IT !!!!
I had to order the Urban Nine Patch in order to do this Nine Patch-on-point but I didn't mind.
I guess you know what happened after that???? Yep......the Tree of Life was put in a pile on my table (sorry)
Here is my quick Curve Ruler in action, it is a little unnerving to make that cut because as you know, once that cut is made, there is no going back.
Here is the results!!!

If I counted right, there are sixteen curves that have to be sewn and guess what????
I LOVE IT!!!!!!
By the way, I have my sister, Jeanette, to thank for getting me hooked on this ruler. I think she is joining me in making this quilt, not sure yet.
We have a little ice on the ground and it is cold cold cold......stay warm and safe!
jewels of advice

I just wanted to show you the completed "Posh Penelope" by Sew Kind of Wonderful. I did the binding yesterday morning. YEAH!!!!
Not perfect but I love it!!!
I also want to say since some have asked, I used Java Batiks from Inchworm fabrics, most of the background fabrics and a few of the flowers is Island Batik, and I did use one batik from Timeless Treasures for a background.
Next I want to show you just two squares. One year, can't remember when but it has been a while, I am guessing six years???? Anyways, several sisters, mother, and nieces decided to pull one name out of the hat each month and then that person got to chose a block.
Then that month we all sent that block to the person's whose name was chosen.
As you can see, I chose the Tree of Life. Yesterday I spent my afternoon trying to figure out who made which block. There are twelve blocks. Just a suggestion, if you by chance do this, put the name on the back somewhere???? Since we all have a group message on our phones it was kinda easy. Eventually I figured it out and started embroidering the name and what relation they were.
Here is my mother's block, maybe you can see that she did not follow the rules (funny huh)? I think it was right on the beginning of her dementia....but I love the block anyways.
So this is my quest now, to find a sashing fabric and border fabric. I am going through all of my fabrics, thinking of organizing them as well...so this project may take a while.
jewels of advice

Here is what I have so far, yes it could use a good iron but for now this is it.
It has taken me a lot of time to get to this point and I am so excited. I really wish you could see it up close. I am excited about the side triangles matching up.
No more trimming for me....HOT DOG!!!
I still have to put about 30 more squares together but hopefully by the end of the week I will have the top finished.
I can't think of any other quilt besides custom quilts that I have spent so much time on besides this one.
I think it will be worth it in the end....don't you?
Hope your week-end is going well.
jewels of advice

So as some of you know, I am working on my Posh Penelope by Sew Kind of Wonderful.
I showed you this picture yesterday. The reason I am showing you this today is after they are trimmed as you see on the right. There is another set that the curve goes in the opposite direction and those two are sewn together. to make make the block below.
As you can see this block has already been trimmed. Yes, more trimming.
Well...Isn't this block pretty?
You do not want what happened on the right....no point! Unfortunately, I have a lot of those so far. Once you make that cut, there is no going back.
So yesterday I got the bright ideal to mark my ruler with a dry erase marker because this next step can make or break ya. I have already made full squares and four of them the sides do not line up. Hence marking the ruler.
This is the stage I am at now. Trimming again. This marking makes it so much easier and when I sew the actual done blocks together, hopefully, the corners will match.
We will see.
As of now I have 48 of these at this point. I have 72 more to go, including putting the sides and top on and then trim.
Then as I was counting my done blocks and the blocks in the makings, my math was off. I need to cut out one more block to make 42. Now call this wishful thinking but I just keep hoping when I have all of these done that that one block will show up????
Babysitting today, I was up this morning at two and thought since I wasn't sleeping I would be productive. Hope I am not too grumpy today.
jewels of advice

So much has been going on in my sewing room.
So let's start with Posh Penelope.
It took me a day to sew 248 curved pieces, they are shown in the below picture on the left.
The next day I spent trimming them. How boring can that be? I had to take a lot of breaks.
This month was my month to chose the theme for our Family row by row and I chose Strawberry Jam.
There are some members that are not too happy about my choosing the jam but hey, they will live. I did tell them I could choose another but they were sweet enough to endure the block.
Here are my two rows together. Probably won't be in this order. If you think it is cute, you should see it up close. I am just tickled pink.
Now for the true meaning of life. It does not get any more precious than this. He is just the sweetest baby ever but he hates to sleep. I also call him Hoover because he eats anything on the floor. Before he comes I have to clean my floors real good or he will have a hay day.
He is very partial to his grandfather. I will do in a pinch but the sun rises and sets with his Papaw.
Just a little up date on my Log cabin blocks. I have forty done and almost have ten more done. They have been in the almost stage all week. I keep telling myself I just have two more rounds to get them done. Sigh....maybe tomorrow.
jewels of advice

I don't know what happened to me yesterday.
I work up running.
I cleaned the house at break neck speed. My husband asked what the hurry was?
I didn't know but I wish I could bottle it for today.
So......
I finished this quilt. I put the border, quilted it, and put the binding on.
Star of Bethlehem quilt.
39" x 39"
This quilt below, I quilted and put the binding on it.
I used the Hunters Star Accuquilt Go die and Island Batik fabrics.
27 1/2" x 27 1/2"
This was the first thing I did yesterday morning. Had started 8 log cabin blocks, finished them up
I decided that it was easier to do it in groups, searching for the right fabric among all of the cut pieces was tedious for one and I just felt it would go faster if I did it for more at one time.
I have 28 blocks made, here you see 23. They go really fast, the only thing that takes time is searching through all of the fabric I cut. I should have figured out a better way to do this but for now, it works for me. Music helps me stay focused.
I woke up yesterday thinking that it is almost the end of January and I had nothing to show for it, hence the two finished projects.
I also put two borders on a quilt I have not shown, or don't think I have. It measures 90" square. I am going to try to have it on the frame today. I am piecing the backing.
Sometimes I wonder to myself why I don't take the time and do some fancy quilting and I believe I said this before, if I did, things would never get done. I am not out to make a trophy quilt. That is one reason it took so long to get that one Hunter Star quilt finished, I was planning to do something fun on it. Finally decided to just get it done and out of the way. On to greener pastures.
Don't know what happened to that energy today.....I feel like a deflated balloon...haha.
jewels of advice

Recently I have been working with small pieces, like 3/4 inch squares. My fingers just have a hard time working with that small of a piece.
So.....Meet my new best friend!!!!
What a difference these tweezers make.
I saw this book on Amazon and I just love the sewing machines and scissors. As you can tell, I couldn't resist. It is not like I don't have other projects I am working on.
.....someone needs to help me from myself!!!!

Here is the first row. I have to tell ya, I would have had it done sooner but last night I just kept making mistake after mistake. When that happens a person knows it is time to quit for the evening.
I think I am going to make one log cabin block and then work on a project I started last year. I think I only need five squares. I don't know about you but I ask myself all of the time "Why didn't I just keep going?"
Have a wonderful evening.
jewels of advice

As some of you know from previous post, I started using my Accuquilt Log Cabin Die to cut up my scraps. I emptied one tub and one basket.
Here is what I have so far. Thirteen blocks. It is great to have them cut out and ready to go.
While traveling 2 hours to see my son and his family I took my fabric with me in their plastic compartments (see post below) and I separated the lights from the darks. It was taking me so long to get the fabrics I wanted when I was sewing that I took that riding time to do this. It took me one and a half hours to seperate but I am so glad that I did.
A little note about the log cabin die and the blades coming out.....I have yet to call them. I did go on their site and leave a message with a picture but I just hate the telephone but I will.....I must get on that phone and call them.
If you are interested in the row by rows that my sister and nieces are doing, Jeanette has the pictures up of hers and a few others that have finished their rows for this month on her blog.
We have decided that at the first of the month I will post the theme and then Jeanette will post the pictures of the rows when she gets them. I have to tell ya, these are turning out so cute.

GOT MILK????
7 Jan 2021 6:07 PM (4 years ago)

You would think I could have straightened this row for ya but you get the picture.
This is the first month for our Row by Row. My sister, Jeanetter, and 5 nieces have decided to join in this.
We set up simple rules. We are using the Lori Holt books, "Farm Girl Vintage" and "Farm Girl Vintage 2". Actually any bock that is 12 1/2 inches, 6 1/2 inches,
4 1/2 inches, and 2 1/2 inches.
Jeanette took the first month and she chose these Milking Cans and as you can see, I added the cows and letters. Two have already done theirs and they used just the milking cans, large and small...super cute.
Made this so simple for everyone. They can make their row as long or as short as they want. They can add what they want. There is a prize for the one who finishes their row first for that month. Jeanette's daughter Beverly did hers the first day in January....what an over achiever.....
Besides doing this row I have been working on a few log cabin blocks, I have five done. Too lazy to take a picture....not ashamed to admit it.
jewels of advice

I am so excited to show you this post. I am truly going to try to post more this year.
Last year was not a fun year for me or for that matter anyone. As you know, I lost my mother, then I lost a friend of 42 years. My sweet friend was old enough to be my mother but she and her husband were the first friends we had when we were first married. She was like a grandmother to my sons. Then I lost two very very dear friends from Covid and another two church friends who died of covid. I am not telling you this for you to feel sorry for me but in the grand scheme of things, it is who you love and who you are loved by that makes the world a better place to live in.
'Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.
Alfred Lord Tennyson
It is the sweet memories and wonderful examples that bring me peace and happiness.
So.....enough of that for now.
I made a 12 1/2" log cabin block out of the scraps that I have been cutting up...just for fun. It looks crooked but I measured the blocks and they are fine. I think it is that one fabric after the orange, it creates an illusion.
I also looked at all of the colors I have and I believe I have gone over to the dark side....not as much light. So I thought to myself....I could cut me up some light. Then I thought it would defeat the purpose of the scraps. So I am just going to go willy nilly.
I do think I am going to cut that one last 12 1/2" inch strip out of greys. I have a ton of grey scraps in another bin....yes...another bin...haha. These scraps are much larger. Anyways, I think I am going to have that consistent grey through out the quilt and maybe create some kind of design....won't know till I get the blocks together. I also might make the middle small blocks grey as well.
Plans change, ideas turn over and then there you have it....something totally different than what you intended.
LIFE IS GOOD!!
So Let me show you what I have done.
I showed you in my last post that I purchased the top two compartment boxes from Micheal's. As I was cutting more out, I knew I needed more compartment boxes but this time I went to Walmart and got the boxes that do not have dividers. It would be in my best interest if I did have just plane boxes and no dividers because it will suit future projects. So the top two are completely full to exploding. The next one is half way full but I still have a few things on my ironing board to cut up...not much but enough.
Next you will see the 4 1/2" squares....This box is almost full. Of course, you all know that I used my log Cabin die (that is having issues) and my 4 1/2" die from my 8" Qube set.
Next is the most fun.
Empty!!!!!!
Was full
Empty!!!!!!!
AHHHHHHHHH
jewels of advice

It seems the older I get, the harder it is to stay focused.
Let me give you an example.
The other day:
I decided to get busy and work on my Posh Penelope Quilt. Haven't worked on it in months.
Above are the squares I have done.
I had most of the pieces cut out but not all. I returned to it after Christmas and started cutting the remainder out. To my displeasure, I had forgotten how and had to relearn. At the risk of repeating myself, there is a ruler you use.
I am using the top one. Sew kind of Wonderful ruler.
As I am cutting out my blocks.
My sister shows this Star of Bethlehem block (this is the block I did)
....as you have probably gathered, the Posh Penelope block was put to the side.
Jeanette modified the pattern and I took the pattern and used my Accuquilt Go 8" Cube to make this bock.
My block is 32 1/2 x 32 1/2", hers is smaller. I was going to add two borders to it. I wanted to do something fancy but I am running out of fabric.
Anyways, as I had one border cut out...a thought came to me ....
Yes, you get where this is going.
The thought was, why not get my tub of scraps (should be tubs) and cut out a whole bunch of log cabin blocks. I have the Log Cabin die, will make fast work of the scraps and will get rid of a lot of scraps.
Now this is where you are to laugh because we all know that cutting scraps create more scraps.
STAY FOCUSED!!!
Hard concept for some of us.
Below is my Log Cabin die with the cutting blade out. Pooey.....
I was finally was able to get the blade back in but other blades were coming out. I didn't want to wait for a replacement (which I hope they will replace). Waiting for the holidays to get over.
So I put them back in and now....after each cut I take this ceramic tile and place over the blades to push them back in.
I must admit, it is not the smartest idea to keep cutting and run the risk of getting cut myself but I am a gal on a mission.
My husband and I were out yesterday and I asked him to take me to Micheal's to see if I could get something to store my Log Cabin pieces in until I was ready to sew and this is what I found.
How awesome is this???? I already have it full to the brim. I have two of these because there are 12 pieces.
The Accuquilt Go die sure makes short work of this.
I need two more of these compartments.....maybe tomorrow I will go back to Micheal's and pick up two more.
I know...some of you are asking how I went from doing a border to the Log Cabin die. Too much thinking time? Actually, I wanted to make a king size Log Cabin Quilt for my bed and have been thinking on it. Thinking is over and cutting time has begun.
As you have probably guess, my sewing room is a pig sty but I will clean it up when I am done.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
To all of you.
Some of you have been my friend since I was in Samoa over 11 years ago, hard to believe isn't it. Some of you I have personally met which makes it even more special.
I have just posted on
Inchworm Fabrics blog if you are interested, showing a quilt project that we worked on.

If you have been visiting my blog, you will know that I have been working on "Starry Night"
Last week I was not able to sew any, was busy babysitting while my son helped my husband put in the metal post. I helped with the heavy log post but the metal ones I was not able to help with. So my son and his family came for four day. During that time, there was no sewing for me except that I was able to cut out all of the remaining blocks which helped a ton this week.
Isn't he cute???
I used so many different batiks. Java Batiks from Inchworm fabrics, Island Batiks, Batiks I have hoarded over the years from Hawaii and Marshalls.
Guess what???? Come on guess????
The top is done!!!!!!
I am so excited. This was such a fun quilt.
I will show you when I can clear up a space to lay it out or hang it up. Or maybe when it is totally finished????
This next is the backing for a king size quilt. I had some left over stars. You are actually looking at the wrong side of the backing. I had a time working with all of that fabric. I was totally pooped when I got it all done and thrown over the machine. I just need to load it. I have to tell ya. I was not happy when I went to my long arm. Some of the fabrics that are attached to the poles were off.....I have my grandsons to thank for that. Good thing none of them were around...HaHa
It is a rainy rainy week and cold.

I am just too excited not to post.
Then I went on to the Palm Trees....oh my gosh, this block is so fun to make. I see a whole quilt with palm trees in my future.
Island Batik Fabrics were used in the palm trees. In the Joseph and Mary I used Java Batiks (Inchworm Fabrics) and Island Batik Fabrics. I would say that I am mostly using Island Batik Fabrics.
This was my first full day this week to be able to sew, well, I should say afternoon. I had some chores to do since I have spent most of my time outside helping my husband setting fence post for two days, by the time we got in I was too sore and tired to do much else. These old bones aren't what they used to be.

Bear Creek Quilt Company was asking for pillowcases and quilts for the Oregon fire victims.
So I stopped what I was working on (will show you in a minute) to make some pillowcases.
I looked for their address but can't seem to find it, sorry. If you are interested, just contact Bear Creek Quilt company on facebook. I tried to find the post, sorry.
more pillowcases
Sew kind of wonderful came out with this pattern. I may have shown it to you but if I have, just bear with me. I just loved this pattern. I purchased the online video and so glad I did. I am a visual learner and those clases has helped a lot.
This is all I have gotten done. I was in the zone and going to town. I had all these plans and then I saw the post asking for pillowcases and quilts. Then my grandson came to visit (no crying here).
Notice the hair, I am kicking myself for taking things literally. I wanted her to have brown hair and felt the stable should be brown....I don't want to do it over so I am thinking maybe some quilting in the hair?
Here are the two quick curve rulers, one is the quick curve and the other is the wonderful curve ruler. The wonderful curve ruler is for the "Starry Night." The Quick Curve is for the quilt below.
I was actually making headway on this one but got interrupted when "Starry Night" pattern came in. You guessed it. I am working on both.
Just a random picture of this catfish that came out of our pond. No, that is not me, I wish.
Then last week, I got the hair brained ideal to make the girls that I have activities with on Wednesday these placemats. I made six of them. When my machine was working, at one point I was threatening to trade the machine in. Anyways, I got all six done and delivered. You can get the pattern at Applique Market.
Now...today I get to work in my sewing room. I ran around this morning doing my chores and running errands and now...ahhhhhh I am in my happy place.

Jelly Roll Twist
52 1/2" x 60 "
My nieces decided they wanted to make this quilt last Saturday.
I joined in. As it turned out, it was only me and one niece. No matter. This was such a fun quilt to make. It goes so fast. This quilt is great for a beginner.
I used Riley Blake"s "Root and Wings" jelly roll. Free pattern on the fat quarter shop.
You really can get this done in one day and even quilt it if you don't mess around but I took an extra day to quilt it.
Don't you just love this pattern?
I just knew I had to try this pattern!
Below is the Quick Curve Ruler and the 6" Sew wonderful ruler.
Here are two of the blocks. It took me all day yesterday just cutting out all 42 blocks. My hardest problem was finding enough different fabrics. I used Java Batiks from Inchworm Fabrics, and Island Batiks, a lot of them I purchased from Hancocks of Paducah.
I know you all will find this hard to believe but my hand always gravitated toward the bright fabrics for the corners. I guess I have a problem with darks and an addiction to brights.
Then this is the MOD ORNAMENT
I made this a few weeks ago.
You use the mini curved ruler for this one.
Not only do patterns have curves and twist, so do our lives. My husband and I put our house on the market. He spent 2 and a half days bush hogging the property, another day our son and his friend came and helped do a few things around the house. I started cleaning out and organizing, I took down all of my quilts, trying to make it all a blank slate. Anways, the twist is, my husband came to me after we got all of this done and before they came to take pictures and said, "Do you really want to sell", I asked him if he did and he said no. So no we are not selling. Go figure.

Little Miss Muffet
Little Miss Muffet
Sat on a tuffet,
Eating her curds and whey;
Along came a spider,
Who sat down beside her,
And frightened Miss Muffet away.
I finally got my camera cord in the mail so I can show those of you who do not have instagram or facebook my tuffet.
The fabric is Island Batik "Primo" by Ebony Love.
I was going to paint the legs but when I finally got it all together, I said..."I am DONE!"
Such an easy project but for me it was one mistake after another. But she is done and that is that.
My sister will show you hers when she has it done.
Little bit on the personal side. My husband and I have put our house up for sale.
It just happened. One day we were discussing it, the next day we talked to our real estate friend. He called with a quote which was so amazing that we jumped on it.
I feel kinda sad, this has always been my husband's dream but he said he lived it and time to move on. We will see if it sales. To be honest, if it sales, that is fantastic, if not, I will be just as happy.
On to new Adeventures

It seems that this blog hop could not come at a better time for most of us, when the world is going crazy around us.
So...I like making door hangings for my mother. When Joan, Moose Stash Quilting, asked me if I wanted to join, I thought what a perfect way to get motivated to do another door hanging.
I spent a few days pondering and gathering ideas, at the time it was getting close to Valentines Day.
So this is what I came up with.
I used a coloring page, Island Batik Fabrics, and my embroidery machine.
It has been hanging on my mother's door for over a month now.
My mother has dementia, as I was bringing her home from the hospital the other day she had asked me if I knew which room she was in. I told her I did, she asked me if her room had been moved. I told her no. Well....when we got to her door, she smiled when she saw the door hanging and said, yes, this is my room. Something so simple to bring back a memory.
So I thought I would show you some of the other hangings I have done for her. Some of you may remember and if you are just coming by my blog, well....enjoy!
This was one of the first to grace her door, it now hangs above her bed. She laughs at this one because she truly does not do mornings, unfortunately, I think I take after her. You have to give me about 30 minutes to wake up before you talk to me.
I made this one for her last Easter
I just thought this was one of the funniest ones, now hangs by her fridge.
This was one of the very first ones to hang on her door, a few of the residents threatened to steal it, so we took it off and hung it on her wall.
My mother Loves Tweety Bird and she just loved this one.
It has been fun hanging things on her door. There have been other wall hanging that I have made that have graced her door but these were specifically made for her with the exception of a the tree and pumpkin.
It was always fun to hear the reaction of the residents when they would see a new door hanging. I know my mother has enjoyed them and being how she is now, she enjoys them like new every day.
Thank you so much Joan, Moose Stash Quilting, for allowing me to join in. If there are some of you who haven't been to her blog, you are definitely missing out. If you want a laugh or to be entertained, her blog will do it.
