Bridal Facial Tips and Tricks 24 Oct 2009 7:19 AM (15 years ago)

Get Beautiful Skin in Time for Your Wedding!

Brides-to-be are busy bees - what with wedding planning, attention to details and so on. The closer the wedding date is, the bride who has sensitive or pimple-prone skin should take care of her skin carefully.

Stress tends to cause pimples to show up more readily. No bride wants to deal with a pimple a few days before her wedding day. That would ruin the day indeed.

If you want great looking, radiant and beautiful skin on your wedding day, then it is important to begin a pre-wedding bridal beauty care daily regime well in advance.

The following article provides a few tips that a bride should include in her facial skin care regime in the weeks leading up to the wedding day.

You can keep your skin clear and acne-free simply by using what you have available at home.

Homemade Tips and Tricks for Acne | Pre Wedding Skin Care

1) Garden herbs such as Echinacea, lemon balm, rosemary, dill, and parsley are great to make into teas and infusions - they purify the skin and strengthen the immune system.

2) Yogurt is a very effective yet gentle acidic facial peel that is safe for acne-prone skin. Apply directly from the pot and leave for 5-10 minutes, then rinse off.

Yogurt Facial Mask

For oily skin, add a couple drops of lemon or lime juice. For dry skin, mix in a couple tablespoons of honey.

Ingredients:

* 1 cup natural yogurt (we like it just-out-of-the-fridge cold)
* 1/2 cup oatmeal (any type of basic oatmeal works here)

Mix the ingredients together. Apply to the skin for 10-15 minutes. Wash off mask with a washcloth steamed in the microwave (careful that it's not too hot).

3) Vinegar can make a great antiseptic toner for acne, and it can be very mild if blended in equal proportions with water or green tea.

4) Baking soda mixed with Castile soap is a great antibacterial scrub.

5) Garlic makes a great topical treatment for acne. Simply rub a clove of garlic over a pimple or cut the clove in half, apply over the zit, secure with a Band-Aid and leave overnight.

6) Lemon makes a wonderful whitening solution for acne scars and marks.

7) Honey can be applied as a mask and a topical remedy for acne.

Bridal Wedding Gowns in Blue Color 25 Sep 2009 6:43 AM (15 years ago)

Beautiful wedding dresses in blue color might seem not like a grand idea. It might might not be what you think of when you imagine your dream wedding. But there used to be a time when blue wedding dresses were considered high fashion.

In fact, wearing blue on your wedding day was supposed to ensure that your spouse will stay true to you, and the marriage stays strong and intact. As the popular saying used to go "Marry in Blue, Lover Be True!".

This wedding tradition of wearing blue came about from an old English saying:

Something old, something new
Something borrowed, something blue
And a silver sixpence in her shoe

Brides used to favor blue wedding dresses over white wedding dresses. And today, many young brides are turning back to this wedding dress trend.

Here are some blue wedding dresses for inspiration.

Hairstyles for Brides with Long Hair 24 Sep 2009 8:14 AM (15 years ago)

Here are some tips on selecting the right kind of hairstyle for your wedding day. If you have long hair, then please read on.

Most of the wedding hairstyles are suitable for women with long hair, be it the classic updo bun, the half-bun, or simply flowing wavy hair let down.

Hairstyles for Brides with Long Hair
By Laura Firenze

There is an old custom that when a woman gets engaged, she should start to grow her hair. There is no doubt that having long hair will give you a lot of flexibility in choosing both your hairstyle and headpiece for your wedding. There are a few things to keep in mind when choosing the perfect wedding hairdo for long hair.

The first question is whether to wear your hair up or down. This will depend, in part, on just how long your hair is. Very long hair, while very pretty, also requires a lot of brushing to look neat over the course of a long day. This type of maintenance is totally impractical during a busy wedding day. If your hair is only sort of long, flowing waves can be a very romantic look.

A nice compromise is to pull some of your hair back, and let the rest be down. This is great for brides who love their long hair and want to show it off. It's also a nice idea if your fiance has always loved to see your hair long and loose. Pulling some of your hair back will also give you better options for anchoring a pretty piece of hair bridal jewelry, like a comb or delicate tiara. When your bridal hairstyle is all down, the only type of hair jewelry that tends to work is a wreath, which has pretty limited uses.

Many brides with long hair will choose to wear it up, and having it long means that it can be sculpted into all sorts of intricate hairdos. When you are thinking of an updo, it is very important to have at least one trial run with your hairstylist before the wedding. Your regular stylist might be terrific at cut and color, but not all of them excel at formal hairstyles. With long hair, you might need to seek out a stylist who specializes in working with your hair length.

Finding the right stylist is particularly important for brides whose hair is very long, like waist length or even longer. A true story: the day of my wedding, all of my bridesmaids had come to my salon to have their hair styled. One of my bridesmaids had exceptionally long hair, and when the stylist saw it, he looked at her and said, "What am I supposed to do with this?"! Fortunately, a different stylist stepped forward to take care of her, and she looked beautiful in the end, but not before a few tears were shed. It is bad enough to see this happen to a bridesmaid, but imagine if it was you on your wedding day. That is why trial runs are so critical.

Another great reason to have a practice hairstyle is to see how it feels. If you have a lot of hair, or it is thick, having it all piled on top of your head can actually give you a headache! For brides who find that to be the case, a low bun at the nape of the neck can be a more comfortable option, as can wearing the hair half down.

There are so many wonderful looks that you can create for your wedding with long hair. One very pretty style is to have a series of braids woven into a bun at the lack of your head. A classic chignon is another lovely updo for a bride. It is a great idea to go through magazines and pick out a few looks that appeal to you. Don't limit yourself to wedding magazines, either - you can often find the most chic looks at celebrity events.

Long hair will give you so many choices for your wedding. All you have to do is narrow it down to your favorite look, whether it is classic, romantic, or cutting edge. With so many wonderful options, you are sure to find a style that makes you feel absolutely beautiful.

Laura helps brides with their wedding plans by offering advice on selecting bridesmaids gifts, reception ideas and other aspects of planning a wedding. Bridal hair jewelry is the perfect accent for your wedding hairstyle.

Bridal Face Mask for Beautiful Skin 31 Jul 2009 10:14 PM (15 years ago)

The Importance of Pre-Wedding Bridal Facial Routine

Many brides will visit the beauty salon and spa just before their wedding day. It is also a time for the bride to engage in pampering herself before her big day. These days, the bride will be joined by her bridesmaids.

However, a day at the beauty salon and spa will not have much of an effect on a bride's facial skin unless she has also been taking good care of it prior to it.

If you want great looking, radiant and beautiful skin on your wedding day, then it is important to begin a pre-wedding bridal beauty care daily regime well in advance.

In keeping with eco-friendly and natural living ethos of this blog's writers, we propose a few homemade facial masks with natural wholesome ingredients that should be part of a bride's beauty regime (or any woman's for that matter)!

The starring ingredient in these facial masks is...Yogurt!

Why Use Natural Yogurt in Face Masks?

Well, yogurt has amazing cleansing properties that help remove traces of dirt, pollution and make up from the pores of our skin and leave it looking fresh, glowing and younger. A Yogurt Face Mask acts as a skin tightening and reviving agent. It is particularly good for those who are acne-prone.

The main function of yougurt is deep cleansing. It also brightens the skin and evens out the skin tone. Apart from that, it is also good for moisturizing and firming the skin.

These facial masks should stay on for 10-15 minutes, and should be followed up with cleansing and a thin layer of moisturizer as the last step.

Warning: If you have sensitive skin (for instance, react adversely to to AHA/ BHA) then do not use this recipe. If you put the yogurt on your face and experience a burning sensation over the cheeks, you should wash it off! A mild tingling sensation on the other hand is all right.

Pre-Wedding Bridal Natural Face Masks for Glowing Skin

Yogurt Face Mask

Ingredients:
1 tbsp natural yogurt, room temperature (not lowfat or non-fat)
1 tsp runny honey or lime, as needed (see below)

Preparation:
Combine mixture, then apply to face.
Let sit for 15 minutes.
Wash face with steaming washcloth.
If you need to thicken the mixture, you can add flour.

If you would like to have a stronger moisturizing effect, you can add a bit of honey in the yogurt. If you would like to have a stronger anti-dullness effect, a bit of lemon together with the yogurt will do the trick.

Oatmeal-Yogurt Face Mask:

Ingredients:
1 tbsp oatmeal, finely ground
1 tbsp live, organic yogurt
A few drops of honey

Preparation:
Add the yogurt to the oatmeal in a small bowl and mix together. Stir the honey into the yogurt and oatmeal mixture.

Another good recipe for brightening up your skin is to use a natural homemade facial recipe used by Indian brides and Indian women. This recipe is favored by one of the most beautiful woman in the world, Indian Bollywood actress (see image below), Aishwarya Rai.

Grecian Wedding Inspiration 13 Jul 2009 7:06 AM (15 years ago)

One of the hottest trends is to have a themed wedding, and one of the more popular themes today is the Grecian (Greek inspired) wedding! For the wedding gown, a popular choice is a Grecian inspired gown that can make a bride look like a goddess.

Celebrities like Heidi Klum and Lindsey Lohan have chosen Grecian style evening gowns and locks to match as they tread the red carpet. Grecian style involves having hair that is long and voluminous with large curls for a super sexy, truly goddess look.

We found a great article on planning a Greek wedding. Please read it through for some ideas.

Ancient Greek Wedding Theme
By Jeanette Shinn

Is your man, "Your Greek god?" Why not celebrate with an Ancient Greek inspired wedding theme? Not to be confused with a college toga party, the Ancient Greek theme wedding has been mostly overlooked in recent years. This is probably due to its popularity for frat and sorority parties on college campuses across the country. Those events are not about elegance and the result is often tacky. So it's not hard to understand why the theme is not on the tip of a bride's tongue when it's time to pick out a theme for the wedding.

Still it can be fun and rewarding to play with the ancient Greek architecture and fashions when designing your wedding celebration:

Of course, pulling off any theme reaches beyond the decor of the room. Just like a theater event, the average individual's ability to embrace an atmosphere depends largely on the appearance of the principle players. That does not mean that in order for you to pull off an ancient Greek themed wedding that you have to get married in a toga - no way! In fact the toga is not even Greek. It's the Roman addition to the culture.

Choosing such a wedding theme does mean that your gown and the dress of the rest of your party should be tastefully reminiscent of the styles favored by the Ancient Greek peoples. As such you should start by commissioning a wedding dress based on a design inspired by the sculptures of Aphrodite and the timeless beauty of ancient Greek clothing styles in general. Then add an elegant wedding sandal to complete your wedding theme and accent your look.

Build your Greek wedding theme decor with pillars. It's usually most practical to have the big pillars you need made from Styrofoam if you can not find a facility that was built with columns or you need more for the ambiance of the room. You can have them professionally made or if you know a wood worker that person might be willing to cut them for you with his lathe. Then it's just a matter of painting them to your satisfaction. For most, the spray paint designed to give a stone finish will work, but ultimately every bride should play with a few pieces of scrap Styrofoam and a variety of paints before deciding. The small pillars, for the basis of your table centerpieces can be found at most any craft store.

Accent your ancient Greek themed wedding with some elegant looking urns placed strategically around the room. These too can be easily found at most craft stores. After the wedding, keep the urns in your home or apartment with dried flowers in them or just as accent pieces by themselves - there is little that will make your wedding budget go further than identifying these rare opportunities to buy something for your wedding that you can use to better your life afterwards.

Assuming the management of the facility hosting your wedding agrees, rent a fog machine to give the "Top of Mount Olympus" feel to your event - either for your ceremony, or for the dance floor at your reception - or both!

Of course there are so many other things you could do to pull off the Greek theme. Hire a Greek restaurant to cater your wedding. Hire Greek dancers and musicians as entertainment and let them help you segue way into your dance. As always, the trick to pulling off an ancient Greek Wedding is to think through every detail just as you would if it was not a wedding at all but a theatrical show you were staging. Yes, its work - but your lifetime of memories will be worth the effort.

Planning a Honeymoon 23 Nov 2008 3:03 AM (16 years ago)

Why go on a honeymoon

For many brides and grooms, part and parcel of wedding planning involves planning for the honeymoon holiday, that is usually taken right after the wedding day. But why do newly weds go on such getaways? What is the benefit of it? Some people say that it is another extravagant excuse to spend money by the holiday resorts and crusie industry. But actually, honeymoons have been around for a long time.

By going on a honeymoon, it helps gives you and your new spouse the chance to settle into the brand new status of being a married couple away from other people. It also allows the newly wed the chance to freely express their affections without the hindrance (or interference) of friends, relatives, and commitments and responsibilities at work. It can also be a chance to allow the newly weds to form habits of affectionate companionship that will set the tone for their married life.

So if you can afford the time and the money, it is a good idea to plan a honeymoon getaway soon after your wedding for the reasons above.

Some considerations when you plan your honeymoon:

Your honeymoon should be planned around activities both of you enjoy. This will allow the both of you to be yourselves so that you can rest and relax better in each other’s company. If one of you does not enjoy the sun and the sand, then do not pick a beach resort for your holiday. You can have as much fun planning a city getaway, and this gives you both the chance to explore a new city that both of you have not been to before.

Keep the cost of the honeymoon well within your budget so you do not have financial worries on your mind during your time together. The last thing you want is to finance your honeymoon getaway on a credit card, or on a loan. Starting your married life together financially indebted is not a good beginning. If you can’t comfortably afford it soon after your wedding, there is nothing wrong with postponing it to a more appropriate time when you can afford it. There is no shame in it - lots of sensible people do it all the time!

Finally, keep in mind that the quality of the honeymoon does not depend on the amount of money you have spent on it. In fact, if you cannot afford the time or money for a honeymoon, you could just schedule some quiet time with your new spouse right in your hometown. Hibernate in your apartment with your new spouse. And use this time to build your initial marital bonds and establish the foundation for a lifetime of marital bliss.

Bridal Hairstyles Galleria: Are Updo Wedding Hairstyles for You? 21 Nov 2008 10:40 PM (16 years ago)

One of the big questions brides face, is how to wear their hair on the wedding day. Today's article focuses on this very question and provides tips on whether an updo hairstyle would be suitable for your wedding theme, style and face shape.

The classic hairstyle for a bride is the updo. There are many ways to do an updo.

The Classic Wedding Updo Hairstyle

This is a simple hairstyle to do. You can even choose to create it yourself (with a little practice beforehand!) instead of having a hairstylist do it for you. First, you have to create a mass of curls with a curling iron. Then, sweep the hair up and secure it on top of the head in a high ponytail. Now, let the curls spill out around the elastic. Be sure to pin up any strays, and spray it into place. This hairstyle is not suitable for those of you with very long, thick and heavy hair. If you have thick hair, the high ponytail will not stay in place, unless you band it very tightly, and this will create a tension that could give you a massive headache. Not something you'd want on your wedding day.

The Wedding French Twist Updo Hairstyle

Remember Audrey Hepburn's chic look? Well, that's the French twist. This is a great hairstyle for those with medium to long hair, and works even if you have thick and heavy hair. You just have to secure it will spray. However, this hairstyle works well if you have healthy hair - which means no break-away short and brittle hair. You want a sleek and clean look. So be sure to take care of your hair well before your wedding day. Start with deep-conditioning treatments as part of your hair care routine months before the actual big day.

The Romantic Wedding Updo Hairstyle

The romantic wedding updo hairstyle is a more unstructured, soft and flowing hairstyle. It would be suitable for an outdoor themed wedding, like a beach resort, garden or pool wedding. To create this hairstyle, you should first ppply a product that will hold hair in place and give it some shine, then scrunch the hair to form soft waves and curls. Next, gather it in the back, form it in a downward French roll and secure it with a large barrette (floral designs would look good) at the nape of the neck.

The Crown of Twists Wedding Updo Hairstyle

This is a great elegant wedding hairstyle. But it requires a skilled hairstylist to create it as it is a more intricate style. First, you have to divide the hair into small sections. Each section is then twisted. This is done so as to create a crown with the twisted locks. Then each small crown is pinned up on top of your head.

The Half Up and Half Down Bridal Hairstyle

This is a great hairstyle that combines an updo hairstyle with a let down your hair style too. Simply pin up the front half of the head in a simple sweep or more elaborate loops, and let the rest hang down the back. This is a romantic look too - notice the little gemstones in between the curls of the hair.

The Simple Ponytail

This basic style be a very sophisticated look, if done right. However, you should have a healthy head of hair to pull this off. If your hair is thin and limp, it will not look good to do the ponytail. To achieve this look, pull back your hair into a low-slung ponytail. Secure the ponytail with a large jewelled pin, or even fresh flowers.

The Soft Modern Wedding Updo Hairstyle

If your face is too long, then a classic updo with all of your hair pulled away from your face, might make your face look even longer. To soften the classic updo look, pull down pieces from the front of the hair to create tiny face-framing tendrils.
