About Our "Roses"... 7 Jun 2012 4:04 AM (12 years ago)

"I thought that I was rich, with a flower that was unique in all the world; and all I had was a common rose. ...

...

"It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important."

to let loose...in felt 17 Apr 2012 11:52 AM (13 years ago)

The most of us are gripping something...such as it would be life-sustaining holding fast to it/her/him...

And what can we cling to?

Such as...

- cream cakes

- soap operas

- parents

- children

- the wish for a child

- spouse

- pets

- revenge

- wine, beer and grog

- amphetamine cocktails

- body shaping

- hope

- past and future

- memories....

The wish of letting loose has to grow inside.

It might make place for a new age...

Mrs. Snowmonster's Pouch 9 Feb 2012 1:35 AM (13 years ago)

Mrs. Snowmonster will go to theater and is looking for the suitable accessoires.

Some gold will fit and proper to her white fur.

The hair will be left sexy messy. Also her leghair.

Because of the zipper no ice crystals will fall into the bag.

Mr. Snowmonster will love her.

Felt Bag "Indian Summer" 10 Oct 2011 11:19 PM (13 years ago)

It ended. The indian summer. Fortunately I could gather it's colors on the last day in a glass.

Then I felted this bag white and I spilled the colors over the white bag.

It took a night for the colors to get into the fibers. (I saw it. I was sitting there the whole time by the light of a flickering autumn ladybug.)

This dying method is described in the book "How to Dye Wool With Seasons and Moods".
Don't start searching for it. It's not on the market now.

You get a fall poem instead:

Leaves by Elsie N. Brady

How silently they tumble down
And come to rest upon the ground
To lay a carpet, rich and rare,
Beneath the trees without a care,
Content to sleep, their work well done,
Colors gleaming in the sun.

At other times, they wildly fly
Until they nearly reach the sky.
Twisting, turning through the air
Till all the trees stand stark and bare.
Exhausted, drop to earth below
To wait, like children, for the snow.

Lichen bag - felted 5 Oct 2011 1:23 PM (13 years ago)

Lichens sometimes are composite organisms consisting of a symbiotic organism composed of a fungus (the mycobiont) with a photosynthetic partner (the photobiont or phycobiont), usually either a green or blue alga. The morphology, physiology and biochemistry of lichens are very different from those of the isolated fungus and alga in culture. Lichens occur in some of the most extreme environments on Earth—arctic tundra, hot deserts, rocky coasts, and toxic slag heaps.

(Wikipedia)

I felted on everything, there is nothing sewn.

In the inside I felted two smaller pockets.

On the front side there are different textiles included: green organza which shines wonderful, gaze, unraveld pullover.

Small Felt Bag Matching a Cocktail Dress 27 Aug 2011 10:58 PM (13 years ago)

In that case it is not the Little Black Dress but the Little Black Bag for the not really LBD.

To make it even practical I felted in two pockets colored like the dress.

What I couldn't catch on the photos: that parts where the embroidery is, is felted of wool carded with glittering fibers, so it shines nicely.

...and felt bags CAN look also elegant not only eco-aunt-like. (Don't throw at me, I heard this from others.)

Felt boots and felt slippers from Moscow 15 Aug 2011 4:43 AM (13 years ago)

In Moscow it's verrry cold in winter. So people wore felt boots a longer time ago. Now they only wear felt slippers at home.
I show you the ones I saw in Moscow.

At first a bad example. It's ok to be proud of your felt slippers when you are a beginner and these where your first ones. Than I will be happy with you and perhaps give you some advice for the next time if you prefer.
But how can someone sell things like these?! Poor buyer. Will not be happy for a long time with these fluffy prefelt-slippers...

And now the good ones. They are not my style but the surface embellishment methods are inspirating.

1. Felt combined with crochet

2. Delicate embroidery.

3. Maschine stitched motifs sewed on the felt.4. Stencil printing - or whatever it is called in English - combined with beads. I would try it with textile or acrylic paint. Or do you have another idea?

5. A lot of sequins and beads on the black felt boot.
6. Motif cut off a fabric and sewed on and combined with beads.
7. Felt with zipper - in a different way :-)
Do you feel how new ideas crawl out of your mind?

Felt Bag From Russia With Love 2 May 2011 11:40 PM (14 years ago)

I loved a lot making this bag and now I felted a similar one (with more green) for two exhibitions in Moscow. But I forgot taking pictures of it except some details. Sometimes in December I will get it back... :-)
Bye bye bag and have a nice trip!

Felted wall bag 18 Feb 2011 10:44 AM (14 years ago)

The wall bag is laying in the snow.

It's sleeping...hush!

In it's dream it hangs in the garden of the stone dragon...

Enchanted plants grow there.
Gemstones glitter between the leafs.

The stone dragon is sleeping as well.
Until it will be awakened from that stone life.

Sometimes even dragons can get bewitched...

Little Felt Box 1 Feb 2011 12:15 PM (14 years ago)

Grandmothers smell like grandmothers what you perceive while they are reading fairy tales.
Grandmothers hair turns white...

Grandmothers always listen when you have a problem.
Grandmothers sometimes only say one short sentence but that will grow in your heart and mind forever.
Grandmothers have doilies or some lace on their undershirt.
Grandmothers hide pearl jewelry in a small box.
Grandmothers do handcraft.
You never forget Grandmother...

"Grandmother's Whisper" that's how I call this felt box.

Felted Bag from Atlantis 11 Jan 2011 11:43 PM (14 years ago)

A little bag to wear with jeans or the little black dress.
I wanted to loose myself in surface structures and the shades of blue, green and turquoise.

Different self dyed fabrics and yarns and fibres combined with free stitching.

You can go fishing or if you're vegetarian just help yourself at the kelp-buffet.

Can you feel the likable cool, turquoise water surrounding you?
And do you see the sunbeams under the water?
All around fluctuation, light, glimmer and all the same calming silence...

Felted Bag With Gipsy Style 2 Jan 2011 12:50 PM (14 years ago)

That's how it can look like if I stitch until my fingers get sore...

But I don't like using thimbles.

The length of the strap is adjustable.

It's a 2 in 1 bag.

In Germany some said that the free stitching looks so hungarian. I told them they are gipsy motifs. And gipsy culture is not hungarian culture!

Gipsies have their own tradition in Hungary and every other lands they live in the world. They even say that they are gipsies living in Hungary and not hungarian.

In Hungary there are many different kinds of free embroidery. One very famous is the style of the city Kalocsa (say Kalotsha). That kind of free stitching has colors like the gipsy's hand craft but the floral design is absolutely different. (On the photo you see a traditional costume from Kalocsa.)
More about the modern hungarian gipsy style here.

Angel Felt Box for Christmas 22 Dec 2010 12:44 PM (14 years ago)

Ever felt an angel's breath in the gentle breeze? A teardrop in the falling rain? Hear a whisper amongst the rustle of leaves? Or been kissed by a lone snowflake? Nature is an angel's favorite hiding place. ~Carrie Latet

I wish you a merry Christmas!

Flattering Felt Box 19 Dec 2010 1:25 PM (14 years ago)

A hanging felt box again. Some say it looks like an angel. Other say it's an owl. What do you think?

Sometimes I don't fancy working with bright colors. That's a piece for giving my eyes a rest. Only natural, curly wool with some effect yarn which you don't see on the photo but in the sunshine it glitters in the felt.

Felt tutorials 28 Nov 2010 2:18 PM (14 years ago)

I wanted to make my first online felt course in English in November. As you may have noticed nothing happened. Because I got an invitation for a Christmas market in Germany and I decided to take the chance so I felted like crazy this time and soon I'll travel. But you can get the 4 tutorials I prepared for this felt course: 1. How to felt pine trees with different designs. Standing and hanging version. 2. How to make crazy patch felt which can be used for brooches, bags and 1000 other things. 3. How to felt wrist warmers with felted gingerbread. An eye-candy for the cold season. 4. The making of a very special angel box. You'll use spiritual energies while making it. I guarantee there won't be two equals. (I show the felting process with step-by-step photos, very detailed, anyway I advice to buy them if you have already been felting a hollow form.) You can get them only bundled for 30 USD. To buy them send this amount to the PayPal account and I send you the .pdf files within 24 hours after the money was debited. Please leave also your billing address as a message which I can give to my bookkeeper. (From 1st Dec. to 8th Dec. I'm not at home and I still don't know if I'll have internet access. So you might wait getting them till I'm back if you buy that week.) If you think the tutorials weren't worth buying them, let me know within 24 hours after getting them and I'll send your money back. Whish you a happy week Corinna

Hanging felt vessel 17 Nov 2010 2:17 AM (14 years ago)

I loved felting this bird nest.

But mostly I like making felt boxes, vessels, cases etc. where man can hide lovely treasures, hold necessary things or leave messages for someone.
So this nest is to work as such a helper in the abode.

It's quite big...

The beads are from a necklace of the 60-70s. Someone gave them to me, maybe I could use them instead of throwing away. Now I found a good place for them. That's also some kind of recycling...

It looks beautiful when the light shines through them.

I felted in silk fibres and pieces of a gift-ribbon.

My favorite color has been blue since I was a child. Different shades. In the last time I like to combine it with more green and warm yellow.

I will take it with me to a Christmas market in Germany and I hope it will find a new home.

Have a sunny day!

Felted snow 4 Nov 2010 1:39 PM (14 years ago)

The first fall of snow is not only an event, it is a magical event. You go to bed in one kind of a world and wake up in another quite different, and if this is not enchantment then where is it to be found? ~J.B. Priestley

Otherwise: Snowflakes are kisses from heaven.

Always finding back home... 12 Oct 2010 1:07 AM (14 years ago)
