3rd Test Match - India Vs. West Indies Cricket Test Match 5 Jul 2011 8:47 PM (13 years ago)

PACE & BOUNCE ON OFFER FOR INDIA AGAIN AT ROSEAU GROUND

Another pace filled bouncy wicket awaits India ahead of the 3rd and final test match against the West Indies at Roseau, Dominica. India, though leads the three match test series 1-0 is certainly aware of the inexperience of their batters against some serious pace and bounce. Barring Laxman, Dravid and Raina, the Indian batsmen have struggled to sustain the opposition’s attack on conditions suiting pace & bounce. It will be interesting to see if skipper Dhoni shows further faith on his opening batsman Murali Vijay, who has been the biggest weak link among the two openers. The West Indies would certainly like to exploit these grey areas of the opposition as an attempt to draw level the test series.

Indian Premier League – Next Level Cricket 28 Oct 2010 3:24 AM (14 years ago)

Indian Premier League concept has emerged with a 20 over matches across various teams with players from all over world. These series was initiated in the year 2008 by Board of Cricket Control for Cricket in India. A big budget series where in the highest paid cricketers were M.S. Dhoni (Former Captain of Indian Team) and Sachin Tendulkar (Does not need any introduction) from India. This is a yearly series and had Four seasons till now. By far the teams were based on the states and bought by few of the superstars and big business entities.
First season started with a bang and was won by Rajasthan Royals under the captaincy of Shane Warne. This team was called the Underdogs as they were the least hyped with best performance.

Second series held in 2009 happened in South Africa. This was the most talked about event of twenty-twenty cricket era. Again in India people follow cricket as the religion and for the same reason this series got loads of attentions. Viewers in India and across the globe followed each and every match of the series. This time it was Deccan Chargers a team from South India who won the series. Adam Gilchrist was leading the team for this series. Third series was won by Chennai Super Kings with Mahinder Singh Dhoni as the captain for the team in 2010.The 2010 IPL series was played in India. However after the third series the BCCI chief Lalit Modi was in news for quite some time. He was moved out from BCCI. It was around the controversy about two new additions to the series. There were two new teams announced which were Pune and Kochi. Primarily the grapevine was against the money involved and the owners for these new teams. Cricket globally has been in conspiracy yet with maximum viewers and followers across the globe.

Flintoff’s Cricket Series Over 24 Oct 2010 3:21 AM (14 years ago)

One of the renowned English cricketers Andrew Flintoff has finally decided to give up cricket starting July 2010. Flintoff has been the most versatile player from England Cricket team who was known for fast bowling and superb bating. This all rounder has been a captain for the English team. He has been instrumental in getting winning trophies for England team during his captaincy. His leadership skills and camaraderie have been evident on and off both the fields. England won the Test series against India in 2006 under his guidance and captaincy.

Flintoff did not have a very great opening as he was selected Under 19 team. He started off performing slowly and gradually got in to a form of best cricket all rounder. For the same reason he faced harsh criticism about his stamina, physic and fitness. However with a Never Say Die spirit he performed against Zimbabwe and gave right off the bat to all those who criticized him. It was a blessing in disguise for him. Then he moved on to the England team and scored a Test century in 2002. He has been a key player in all One day as well as Test series for England.
He was appointed as a Vice captain for the England team. During this team he bowled with a bang with only 17 runs off his balls.  Flintoff could not keep a very descent track record about his behavior and had been asked to apologize time and again. Then similar to other good cricketers he had ankle injury due to which he could not play in Sri Lanka and New Zealand in 2008. Flintoff is known as second highest wicket taker in England team with 159 wickets in hand. He played in Indian Premier League and was a part of Chennai Super Kings. By the virtue of his performance he asked for the maximum amount and was given as well.

It was none other than England – the origin country for Cricket where the event happened.
Cricket teams across the globe should qualify basis criteria to get in to the series. Primarily the test series is the qualifier, however for countries not playing the test series have to get through the One day series. Post these one day matches the countries gets short listed for the semi finals and then finals.

Historically West Indies, Australia, Srilanka and India have been the strong contenders of the series Trophy. There have been great changes observed by the cricket teams across to win the trophy. Most of the strong contenders have some of the strong players who would get them the desired results on the field. Like in West Indies Clive Lloyd and Vivian Richards had been the key consistent players to fetch the winning trophy twice and that too in an order for the country for first two series. Vivian was given the Man of the Match for the final match for the fantastic performance in the Second World cup series. However third series winning team was Australia with David Boon as the man of the series. Then it was India, Pakistan, Australia again and then Srilanka who won the series in the order respectively. The batting line up, the bowling arrangements, fielding strategy on the floor, so much to say countries like India changed the Cricket Coaches to get the trophy. Traditionally played with 50 Overs One day series this keeps the fun and excitement intact for the viewers.

Cricket – Controversies 14 Oct 2010 3:15 AM (14 years ago)

Cricket is a sport appreciated all over the world. More than 12 big countries play this game and the cricket series actively every year. There are big events and big awards with big amount involved in the game. Hence this is one sport with lots of controversies. Controversies could be around batsmen, bowlers, captain, fielding on grounds and even around coaches. Most often the bookies who bet on the winning or loosing teams are in news for buying the players from various countries.

All most players from all the countries have been dragged by these bookies. It started with Hanse Cronje the South African captain who was enticed by an Indian gambler. These gamblers are good in stuffing enough money to the cricketers for which they would easily cheat on their country. Hanse Cronje was allegedly involved in match fixing against India around the one day series played in the year 2000. Although the great player denied his role, however could not prove as he died in a plane crash. Recently a Pakistani match fixing was exposed by one of the cricketer’s girl friend. This girl had informed the news channels that her boyfriend clearly told her that they would not be winning any game in 2010.
Cricket is followed as a religion in India, however in India there were couple of cricket players found involved in match fixing. Some of them are Mohd. Azaharuddin who was the active captain for the Indian Team. Another one was Ajay Jadeja who was an all rounder and had proved his metal on ground at numerous times. This has to an extent diluted the fun and excitement around Cricket as a sport. Rather viewers have started suspecting most of the players involved in match fixing and not playing with sportsmen spirit. The message is to drive the sport with True spirit and for the nation.

man utd vs west ham 15 Sep 2010 9:43 AM (14 years ago)

Grant to use 4-5-1 with nine outfield players to defend when the second block, so we're going to be a problem as the first time. We gave away possession unnecessary, and players must learn to play simple. You can also see how the West Ham midfielder said he was sticking with Scholes and Fletcher near the man marking, which play has been a slow time. I also believe that O'Shea is not wide enough when Nani ran between a defender and left-center back. I think the penalty was immensely encouraged us and helped us play our natural game of many big steps 1:00 to 2:00.
The thing I noticed about West Ham had two things. The first is that we have been able to play long passes with ease. The pass to Rooney Berbatov, who has been excellent for Nani, who shot the ball, which was rejected by mail, or go to Nani Giggs should have scored in a 1-1 situation. Another thing is that there is little danger of West Ham with Cole really miss service. When he has the ball, he would use the ball to himself and does not wait for his teammate.

Ultimately the second half was better, with a medium center West Ham a bit tired and lose concentration, which was very well suited Paul Scholes. This and the knowledge necessary to become a place allowed us to play very smoothly and I thought we could have won 6-0. The second half was brilliant with some great goals from Nani and Berbatov and space and setting in motion when it is necessary to pass through the 70 minutes when SAF knew it was over.

I think West Ham really caused us problems with their 4-5-1 and Fletcher and Scholes marked man. However, their growing lack of concentration and lack of service for Cole was treated well by our players. The only thing I fear is that every time someone is making Scholes seems to diminish our game and the players of West Ham is really good for our strikers and we tend to lose possession easily. Maybe we can put Carrick, Fletcher and Scholes in midfield, but that would mean that Berbatov, who is on fire, you should put aside and not be fair to him. For this situation, I do not know what to do and I am curious what will SAF.

Sourav Ganguly Profile 6 Jul 2010 12:00 AM (14 years ago)

The left hand batsman who took Indian team to the finals of World cup 2003 has got his own fan followers all over the world for his explicit batting style. Rightly called the ‘Prince of Kolkata’ was born on July 8, 1972 in a well sophisticated family in West Bengal to Chandidas and Nirupama Ganguly. As a small child, Ganguly was very mischievous. He loved football than cricket that even today he would rather watch football matches for cricket. He was in football team in school till 13. But he followed his elder brother, Snehasish who himself was a cricketer.

When he was not able to make a good impression on his debut in International
cricket in 1992, many thought that he was out of the game. His comeback was terrific and then made many records including that of the highest score in World cup and in ODI the second highest scorer after Sachin.

Though Sourav was criticized for his bad attitude towards his senior players and termed ‘arrogant’ sometimes, he was proved his proficiency during his captainship of Indian team. The Indian team had its best time during his captainship. He began as the captain of Indian team leading India a series win against South Africa in the one day series of five matches. He was an honest captain who was impartial and pushed his team members to their maximum performance.

Sourav is very religious and never fails to pray before every match. He got married with his childhood friend Dona Roy in 1997 and has a girl named Sana. Whenever he stays in a hotel, he checks in whether the photograph of his wife and daughter is placed in the side table. He has been the ambassador for many brands and had been one of the high paid palyers in the country for the advertisements.

Ganguly bid good bye to the International cricket after the Australia series. Though he scored Zero in his last inning his inspiring sportiveness is undeniable. This prince will remain in the minds of Indian cricket fans for centuries.
