TOYCON MNDSTYL FANX The Evolution 2024: Celebrating the Transformation of Toys, Collectibles and Creative Play June 14-16, 2024 12 Jun 2024 2:41 AM (10 months ago)

The biggest toy convention and pop culture event in the Philippines is back this coming weekend: it's the TOYCON MNDSTYL FANX Evolution 2024, or simply TOYCON PH 2024 that will happen this coming weekend.

TOYCON PH is evolving as this year's event is focusing evolution of toys and experience creative play, not only toys, but also to comics, pop culture, and collectibles that captivates enthusiasts, old and new, this is where Asia comes to play.

This year's ToyCon will solely focus on what this convention is for: TOYS. In partnership with MNDSTYL FANX, they invited toy designers, not only here from the Philippines, but also from around the world as they will showcase their creative works and also sell their uniquely made pieces to congoers as well. As a first for TOYCON PH: they will unveil not one, but two new toy brands from MNDSTYL and the creator of Funko Pop! that will be launched worldwide.

There will be the usual toy selling area, exhibits such as the inflatable Voltes V Legacy figure that will be showcased at the event. Featured movie booths, fun and games, Cosplay competition, ToyCon exclusive items that can only be purchased at the event, and of course, the showcase of toy displays exhibited by various toy groups from the Philippine Toy Groups Association (PTGA).

Spend early Yuletide cheers as the annual Christmas Toys and Collectibles Fair aka Christmas ToyCon comes around again this weekend at the SM Megatrade Hall, brought to you by TOYCON PH.

This year's event will be a special treat for as the Japanese singer Horie Mitsuko, who sang the iconic Voltes V opening theme is coming and a special guest to the Christmas ToyCon, courtesy of TokuSpirits. Aside from Ms. Horie, other guest will be in the event as well such as talents from GMA Kapuso network, and Shonen Anime voice actors will also be visiting, courtesy of CaliCo Toys.

Fun activities will also be held during the event such as CreatiVoices X Voice-dubbing Competition, Live Toy charity auctions, the annual Toy Drive to a chosen childeren's charities to give smiles to the less fortunate by donating toys books and much more. 

There will also be toy exhibits, Christmas cosplay competition, and of course, the highlight of the event is the toy marketplace where you can find vintage and rare toys that's a perfect Christmas gift for you or to your kids this holiday season.

The event starts this weekend. The 16th Christmas Toys and Collectibles Fair will start today, December 15 till 17, 2023.  This event is presented by TOYCON PH in partnership with MINDStyle, CaliCo Toys, Arken Hobby Center, Paint It Fun, Gnarly, Bully Boy Collectibles, Aniporium, Devil Toys, Quiccs, Panasonic, Bostik, GMA Store and Legendary Beast Studios. In partnership with R Collectibles, 313 Figs and Toys, Big Boys Toy Store, Hubbyte, Aezer, Solid Toys, Total Dibs, Nodu Toys, Watta Toys Shop4Fun, Devant, Otaku Rush, Doogee, Victorinox, Fiber Fairy, Image World, Devant, and Brandlite.

The biggest toy and pop culture convention in the Philippines is happening this coming weekend, its the ToyCon PH and MINDstyle FanXperience 2023, or simply ToyCon 2023 which will happen this coming weekend.

The highlight for this year's ToyCon will include the much talked about Philippine produced live adaptation of the iconic series Voltes V, titled Voltes V Legacy which is currently airing on GMA Network, with its director, Mark A. Reyes and the cast of the series will be attending the event. Also, in partnership with Toku Spirits, Tokusatsu fans will get a sweet treat, as Ryosuke Kaizu, who played Takeru (aka Michael Joe in PH dub) / Red Mask of Hikari Sentai Maskman, and Tetsuo Kurata who played Minami Kotaro (aka Robert Akizuki in PH dub) / Kamen Rider BLACK and Kamen Rider BLACK RX is coming to ToyCon where fans can see and meet them, up close and personal to their childhood heroes.

Other highlights in the event are the promotion of the upcoming movies such as the live action adaptation of Barbie which stars Margot Robbie as the titular character, the CG animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, and the DC Superhero movie, Blue Bettle. There's also Cosplay contests such as Cosplay KO and Cosplay Pop Duo. ToyCon will also be bringing local and international guest artists and toy designers which you can visit and meet them in the Creative Zones and Toy Designer Alley booths.

And of course, let's not forget the heart of this event: the Toy custom and Toy photography contests, the Toy Group display gallery which is manned by the Philippine Toy Groups Association (PTGA), toy panel discussions, and over 250 vendor booths which you can go hunt for vintage toys, comics, and collectibles to your heart's content.

After 2 years since COVID-19 pandemic began, the biggest toy convention in the Philippines returns: ToyCon PH 2022 and this year the event will go back where it all began, in SM Megamall's Megatrade Hall this coming July 8-10.

Now on its 19th year, ToyCon will bring back the iconic Voltes V which has been on our staple in Philippine pop culture since time in memorial. We all remember the Voltes V statue erected and showcased in SMX Convention center in 2016 and the fleet of Voltes V merchandise launch in 2017. This year, together with Telesuccess, they're bringing back the iconic mecha with  new slew of merchandise, including a convention exclusive Voltes V-themed designer toys.

Bandai released the official images of Shiro Amada's custom Gundam unit, the Extra-zero-8 or Ez-8 for short that appeared in the OVA series, Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team and it will be released under the Robot Damashii Ver. A.N.I.M.E. sub line.

The figure design of Ez-8 is a straight up heavy retool of the previously released RX-78 [G] Gundam Ground Type (which is also reissued this year) and most of the accessories that came from the previous unit are also compatible with the Ez-8. Like most of the released figures in the A.N.I.M.E. line, the Ez-8 can recreate the iconic poses that were seen in the anime.

The Gundam Ez-8 comes with its own 100mm machine gun, Beam rifle, short shield, 4 pairs of optional hands, Parachute pack which is also compatible to the Robot Damashii Ver. A.N.I.M.E. Gundam Ground Type's container rack, optional hand rack, and various effect parts.

Slated for November release, the Robot Damashii Ver. A.N.I.M.E. Gundam Ez-8 is priced at 7,700 Yen (Tax included).

Stands around 14cm, don't let this size fool you, the figure has intricate detail and it has excellent articulation which you can do a lot of dynamic poses. The figure transforms from Fighter to Gerwalk and Battroid modes though it will need to do some partsforming to get the proportion of the figure, most especially in Battroid mode.

The VF-0S comes with optional set of hands, head machine guns for the Battroid, replacement wing parts for Fighter and Gerwalk modes, replacement smaller wing parts for Battroid mode, pair of air intake covers, 4 sets of 3-pc air to air missiles, 2 sets of nosecone for the fighter mode, a nosecone for the Battroid mode, a mini sitting Roy Focker pilot figure, pair of leg boosters, Gun pod, set of landing gears, set of display joint parts, and a display base / flight stand.

Slated for October release, the VF-0S Phoenix is priced at 15,400 Yen (Tax included).

Bandai released the official images of their next Soul of Chogokin figure and its Go Nagai's Mazinkaiser SKL (pronounced as Skull) as the next figure to be released in the line.

It also comes with a exterior damaged cloak which is made of plastic, alternate one-eyed faceplate, 3 pairs of optional hands, wrist replacement parts, Breastomahawk weapon, 2 versions of Skull Pilder (flight mode and docked mode), Rock display base stand for Ganzantou sword, and a display stand for Mazinkaiser SKL.

Slated for October release, SOC Mazinkaiser SKL is priced at 24,000 Yen (includes tax).

Bandai will be releasing the ZGMF-1001/M Blaze ZAKU Phantom / ZGMF-1000/M Blaze ZAKU Warrior, ZAFT's mass-produced mobile suits for squad leaders and ace pilots that appeared in Gundam SEED DESTINY in Master Grade form, as a Bandai Hobby Online Shop exclusive kit.

The upcoming MG kit features the ZAKU Phantom in standard colors, albeit a little darker shade green plastic molding compared to the anime version. It comes with the EX-M Blaze Wizard pack which houses 2, 14-round "Firebee" missile pods. and the missile deployment gimmick is featured in this kit. The Blaze Wizard pack also has opening / closing thruster gimmick which features internal mechanical detail. 

You can also convert the ZAKU Phantom to ZAKU Warrior by simply swapping parts included in the kit. Also, the ZAKU Phantom is also compatible with the EX-A1 Gunner Wizard pack that came from the MG Lunamaria Hawke's ZGMF-1000/A1 Gunner ZAKU Warrior since they share the same design mold. The ZAKU Phantom also comes with MMI-M633 Beam Assault rifle, 4 hand grenades, 2 Shoulder shields (1 for the ZAKU Warrior), and MA-M8 Beam Tomahawk.

Now open for pre-orders, it will be released this coming December. The MG Blaze ZAKU Phantom / Blaze ZAKU Warrior is priced at 4,950 Yen.

As commemoration of the official announcement release of the HGUC Todesritter, Bandai will also be re-releasing the RX-80PR Pale Rider (Ground Heavy Equipment Type) and again, as a Bandai Hobby Online Shop exclusive kit.

The kit first released in 2015, and as the name implies, this Pale Rider is equipped with many weapon accessories for ground use, compared to its Space type variant. The Pale Rider Ground type comes with all of the accessories that were first released (pair of Beam sabers, Bullpup machine gun, 180mm cannon, Missile pods, and Spike shield).

Now accepting pre-orders via the Premium Bandai website and it will be re-released in December. The High Grade Universal Century RX-80PR Pale Rider (Ground Heavy Equipment Type) is priced at 1,980 Yen.

Following the announcement of the HGUC Todesritter, Bandai will be releasing once again the RX-80PR Pale Rider (Space Type) in the High Grade Universal Century kit line, and once again, as a Bandai Hobby Online Shop exclusive.

Originally released in 2017, the Pale Rider retains most of the accessories included (Giant Gatling gun, Hyper Beam rifle, Beam sabers, shield, and Booster pack) in this kit and for those who haven't got this kit the first time it was released, well here's your chance to get this limited item.

Now open for pre-orders once again via the Premium Bandai website, and slated for December re-release, the HGUC RX-80PR Pale Rider is priced at 2,200 Yen.

The Try Age Gundam's design is based on Flit Asuno's Gundam AGE-1 from the series, Gundam AGE and the mobile suit is an exclusive unit to the card arcade game. The Try Age Gundam comes with a Try DODS rifle, Tryarm Sword which doubles as the mobile suit's cloak when the hilt is stored at its back, Tryarm sword beam blade effect part, Tryslash blade beam effect parts, beam shooting effect parts, beam cloak effect part, a set of interchangeable hands, and a display base.

God Σ Gravion's components are obviously a retool and repaint from the previous figures released: the Gran Diva components: (G-Striker, G-Attacker, G-Shadow, and G-Driller) came from the God Gravion set, repainted to match the Gran Σ (Sigma) colors, and speaking of Gran Σ, the core component itself  is heavily retool of Gran Kaiser. The Gran Σ is compatible with the Sol Gran Divas from the METAMOR-FORCE "BARI"ATION Sol Gravion set (sold separately) to form Sol Σ Gravion; recreating the scene meeting and shaking hands between the 2 Gravions.

God Σ Gravion comes with the weapons that came from the previously released God Gravion set:  Graviton Sword, Graviton Rifle x2, Gravity Crescent effect part, and interchangeable hands. It also includes the Graviton Lancer (exclusive to this set). Gran Σ comes with its own set of interchangeable hands, Divine Sword Balmung (its personal weapon), and 3 interchangeable face plates. It also comes with an additional face plate for Sol Σ Gravion combination, and an interchangeable shake hand part.

Sen-ti-nel International also released a presentation video in their official YouTube channel regarding this upcoming figure, presented by Takashi Kitamoto (Sen-ti-nel) with Gravion creator and director, Masami Obari, and Klein Sandman's voice actor, Sho Hayami. Its also revealed in the video that Sen-ti-nel will be releasing the Ultimate Gravion: the final form and combination of Gran Kaiser, Gran Σ, the Gran, and Sol Gran Diva components as the prototype toy was shown during the product presentation. Pre-orders for God Σ Gravion is now open via the d4 Toys website and it will be released in April 2021, priced at 42,800 Yen or USD 400.00.
