2021 is underway and we hope that you all are finding some balance in life. Balance between a healthy diet and a little splurge now and then. Balance between working from home and staying active. Balance between time with the kids and time for yourself. Finding these balances in life aren’t always easy, but they are necessary. Try to allow yourself to find that place where mind and body truly come together, where you can feel peace, strength, and hope for what’s to come.

 

 

Many of us hear the term “vegan”, and instantly think “not good.” That is simply not true. Of course we all have different taste buds, but we have done our practical research on Vegan food only to find that it is both delicious and not as difficult to create as you might think. We found this recipe and love the ingredients used. It creates a delectable dessert that can be served any day of the year. You don’t have to be “a vegan” to make this tasty treat, but if you are…we hope you enjoy this recipe.

Each club offers a different variety of recovery modalities, from Hydro Massage, Cocoon Wellness Pod, to Infrared Thermal Detox Therapy. Contact your home club to get this added to your membership ASAP.
 

EXERCISE OF THE MONTH

BODY WEIGHT SQUAT:

A body weight squat is a great exercise to work your lower body. Keeping your legs toned and strong is essential for daily living…walking, running, skipping with your kiddos, sitting, standing…the list goes on and on. Check your form now and then in a mirror to make sure you are performing this exercise correctly and safely.

KEEP IN MIND:

1) When performing a squat, let your body weight shift back into your heels as you sit your hips back.
2) Keep your knees as far back behind your toes as possible.
3) Keep your chest up and back held in neutral position.
4)Prevent yourself collapsing forward as you perform a squat…remember…CHEST UP. Don’t look at your feet as you squat.
5) Make sure your toes, knees, and hips are all in line at the top of the movement.

Kennedy Club Fitness has been providing a safe space for the community to commit to their health and fitness goals for 40 years.

So here we are Central Coast…back to the purple tier with our county in regards to Covid-19. As a business, we here at KCF will continue to operate as we have been over the last several months…safe, clean, and supporting our members by providing a place of health, wellness, and exercise. 

 

We consider Kennedy Club Fitness to be an essential business, and we hope you all can agree. We are not only here for your physical health, but mental health as well. In a world where certain things (like changes in career, loss of a loved one, anxiety, and simply the emotions that the holiday season can bring to many of us) don’t stop…we can’t stop either. 

 

We are here for you…on happy days…hard days…real days. For the last 40 years, we have been here for our community. To help strengthen mind and body, to help as an outlet to life’s everyday stressors, and to build our immune systems…so that one day…we’d be ready to STAND STRONG for our community.

Hello and Happy Tuesday!
 
We hope this note finds you healthy and happy while enjoying the many benefits Kennedy Club Fitness has to offer. We here at KCF feel the need to reach out to you all to touch base on a few things.
 
While we love and appreciate your support as members, friends, and community, we would also like to remind you that wearing a face covering indoors is a state mandate and one that we, as a business, must follow.
 
This global pandemic is a reality for each of us and there is no question we all hope to move into the next tier very soon.
 
Due to our County mandate we must require face coverings at all times. If you forget yours, we will have some available. Thank you in advance for adhering to the face covering mandate that we are required to uphold.
 
All personal thoughts, opinions and beliefs aside, we do want to do what is right and hope that this will achieve that goal of moving into the next color code.
 
We look forward to continuing our workout routines with you and building our immune systems during this typical cold and flu season. As time marches on, we learn to grow, change, and progress in our healthy lifestyles. We are honored to be a part of each of your journeys.

Raise your hand if you love cranberry sauce? Now…if you didn’t raise your hand, perhaps it’s because you haven’t had the real good stuff yet. There’s the can of the gelatin like stuff we started buying back in the 50’s (hello high fructose corn syrup, yikes), there’s the recipes made with about 1 cup of white sugar, and then there’s this. Now THIS…this is the stuff you’re gonna want to try. A few simple ingredients. Quick and easy to make. Beautiful addition to the Thanksgiving table. Don’t let your holiday dinner go by without making this sweet gem of a side dish.

National Stress Awareness Day aims to identify and reduce the stress factors in your life. Everyone has stress. Some stress is good for us and helps us to respond to changes in life. It is our body’s way of protecting itself from harm. However, too much of it can cause harm to our health and relationships.

It is important to identify the stressors impacting our physical and mental health. Sometimes health problems are the cause. But our health can also be affected by external stressors such as physical abuse, stressful work environments, financial stress, or other family health issues.

Once we identify the causes of stress in our lives we can begin to eliminate or reduce it. Read on in the article below for some tools that can help eliminate and deal with the stress in our lives.

Bicycle Crunch

Kennedy Club Fitness Bicycle Crunch

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Bicycle crunches are an effective ab exercise that not only works your main abdominal muscles, but also your lower abs and your obliques, which run down the side of your abdominals. A strong core will help you with maintaining good posture and performing well at your daily tasks. It is also a key component of good performance in sports and physical activities. Doing a variety of ab and core exercises ensures you are engaging your muscles in different ways.

How to:

  1. Lie flat on the floor with your lower back pressed to the ground and knees bent. Your feet should be on the floor and your hands are behind your head.
  2. Contract your core muscles, drawing in your abdomen to stabilize your spine.
  3. With your hands gently holding your head, pull your shoulder blades back and slowly raise your knees to about a 90-degree angle, lifting your feet from the floor.
  4. Exhale and slowly, at first, go through a bicycle pedal motion, bringing one knee up towards your armpit while straightening the other leg, keeping both elevated higher than your hips.
  5. Rotate your torso so you can touch your elbow to the opposite knee as it comes up.
  6. Alternate to twist to the other side while drawing that knee towards your armpit and the other leg extended until your elbow touches the alternate knee.
  7. Aim for 12 to 20 repetitions and three sets.
