Kimi’s Carpets Plus – Fuquay Varina 5 Mar 2019 1:26 PM (6 years ago)

My wife and I hired Kimi’s Carpets Plus in Fuquay Varina to replace all the carpet in our house with hard surface flooring, specifically luxury vinyl plank (LVP), a $12k+ project. We made this decision in part because we both suffer from allergies, and having carpet doesn’t help. On October 30 2018, they sent an...

Conquest Maps – Review 27 Nov 2018 6:07 AM (6 years ago)

My wife and I travel a lot. I’ve been to seven other countries this year and fifteen states, with one more country planned for December. As we strive to progress toward a minimalist lifestyle (baby steps!), we have a policy against returning home with souvenirs other than memories and (mostly) digital photos. We try to...

Yak Milk Soap by Yak My Body 8 Dec 2016 7:05 AM (8 years ago)

Recently my wife launched Yak Milk Soap by Yak My Body. This is a social enterprise that empowers marginalized Tibetan women with soap making skills to become economically independent. My personal favorite is the Uncle Tomba Sandlewood & Lemongrass Yak Milk Soap. (Uncle Tomba is a characher in Tibetan Folklore, read about him on Wikipedia here).  ...

This week, the FBI issued a public service announcement that ISIS/ISIL (Islamic State in Iraq and Syria/Islamic State in the Levant) sympathizers are using WordPress plugin vulnerabilities to deface websites. The defacements have affected Web site operations and the communication platforms of news organizations, commercial entities, religious institutions, federal/state/local governments, foreign governments, and a variety...

The Budget Crisis – Making Economic Sense 1 Oct 2013 8:51 AM (11 years ago)

In politics fall, not spring, is the silly season. How many times have we seen the farce: the crises deadline in October, the budget “summit” between the Executive and Congress, and the piteous wails of liberals and centrists that those wonderful, hard-working, dedicated “federal workers” may be “furloughed,” which unfortunately does not mean that they...

Church Software => WordPress 22 Jun 2012 9:42 PM (12 years ago)

My dad’s church software website is finally using WordPress. It only took 3 or 4 years of convincing! I know it doesn’t look like much yet, but after 20 minutes of work it looks 10 times better than the last site. I’m pretty sure it was the last static HTML site on the web.
