28.6.2018. 28 Jun 2018 3:57 AM (6 years ago)

PICK OF THE DAY

Japan - Poland
Tip : 3+ (over 2.5)
Odd : 2.20
FT : ??

Group H of the World Cup was seen by many as the hardest one to predict, and that has turned out to be the case. The pre-tournament favourites for qualification, Colombia and Poland, both sit outside the top two. Colombia still have a great chance of making it to the knockout stages, but two defeats from two leave Poland out of the World Cup and heading home in disappointment.
Japan, on the other hand, are in prime position to make it through to the last 16. They managed to beat a Colombia side who were reduced to ten men in the first five minutes in their opener. They scored the resulting penalty but then looked very poor as they sat back despite having a numerical advantage, but they reacted well to conceding Quintero’s equaliser and came out firing in the second half. Yuyi Osako netted the winner to put Japan in an excellent position.
They followed this with a much improved performance against Senegal, twice coming from behind to equalise thanks to the heroics of Takashi Inui and veteran Keisuke Honda. This puts them ahead of the Africans, but only on the FIFA Fair Play ruling due to picking up less cards than Senegal.
However, they will feel fairly confident of getting a result against Poland here. The only European nation in the group have been terrible so far, deservedly losing to Senegal thanks to a dreadful backpass from Gregorz Krychowiak and then getting hammered 3-0 by Colombia on Sunday.
Defensively they look all at sea, and while centre back lynchpin Kamil Glik is recovering from injury, he’s unlikely to be fully fit in time for Thursday’s game. Japan, meanwhile, have looked very well orchestrated when they do venture forward.
Poland seem to have issues dealing with the main striker of the opposition. Niang netted for Senegal thanks to his tireless play, and Radamel Falcao managed to find the net for Colombia too. With this in mind, Japan’s surprisingly impressive Yuyi Osako looks the best choice for our anytime goalscorer predictions.
As far as the overall result goes, I can see plenty of goals in this game. Poland will be looking for some level of redemption, but having conceded five goals in two games they are clearly vulnerable at the back. Japan have looked very shaky at the back as well though, and considering all four of these teams’ combined matches have seen at least three goals we like the look of Over 2.5 Goals.
Japan have the incentive and the form to take the three points though, so we’re also backing a Japan Win and Both Teams to Score along with a 2-1 correct score predictions.
Japan Predicted Lineup: Kawashima, Sakai, Yoshida, Shoji, Nagatomo, Hasebe, Shibasaki, Haraguchi, Kagawa, Inui, Osako
Poland Predicted Lineup: Szczesny, Piszczek, Pazdan, Bednarek, Rybus, Krychowiak, Zielinski, Blaszczykowski, Kownacki, Milik, Lewandowski

24.6.2018. 24 Jun 2018 3:21 AM (6 years ago)

PICK OF THE DAY

Columbia - Poland
Tip : 3+ (over 2.5)
Odd : 2.30
FT :  3:0 WIN!!!

Poland knew that this World Cup group would be tough when they came into the tournament, but despite their rather evenly matched opponents, they were still one of the favourites to make it through the group stages and into the knockout round.
However, they now find themselves on the back foot. They lost 2-1 against Senegal in their opening game on Tuesday, and their dour display during that match doesn’t promise much in the way of a resurgence.
Their afternoon was summed up well when Thiago Cionek deflected the ball into his own net eight minutes before half time, but his almost unavoidable mistake was forgotten when Gregorz Krychowiak made a very avoidable one. The West Brom midfielder played an horrendous back-pass that was swiftly intercepted by Mbaye Niang, who duly doubled Senegal’s lead. Krychowiak regained some level of dignity when he pulled a goal back for Poland, but it was a very poor showing from the entire team.
Colombia were also on the end of a 2-1 defeat in their opener, although their’s was a lot more understandable. Carlos Sanchez made the rash decision to block a Japanese shot with his hand just three minutes into the match. This decision haunted Colombians for the next 87 minutes, with the midfielder sent off and Shinji Kagawa converting the resulting penalty.
In fairness to the South Americans, they bounced back well from this very early setback. Despite playing the vast majority of the game with ten men they controlled the match, and a clever free kick from Juan Fernando Quintero deservedly pulled them level. In the end it wasn’t to be as Japan’s Osako put them back in front, but there were plenty of positives to take from Colombia’s performance.
They may be without Sanchez on Sunday, but they will at least have 11 men on the pitch again. Not to mention the fact that James Rodriguez will return to the starting lineup after his calf injury constrained him to a cameo from the bench against Japan. The Bayern Munich midfielder set the World Cup alight in Brazil four years ago, and with 21 goals in 64 games for Colombia, six of which came in their qualifying campaign, we’re backing him to get on the scoresheet here.
We’re expecting a high scoring game here. Poland have seen at least three goals in each of their last 11 competitive matches, a run which stretches all the way back to their Euro 2016 exit. Meanwhile, four of Colombia’s last six matches have seen at least three goals, so backing Over 2.5 Goals here looks a good choice.
Colombia look a far better side that Poland after their opening matches, and we expect the South Americans to triumph here. For this reason, we’re also backing a Colombia Win and Both Teams to Score along with a 2-1 correct score predictions.
Poland Predicted Lineup: Szczesny, Bereszynski, Cionek, Pazdan, Rybus, Krychowiak, Zielinski, Grosicki, Blaszczykowski, Milik, Lewandowski
Colombia Predicted Lineup: Ospina, Arias, Sanchez, Murillo, Mojica, Lerma, Barrios, Cuadrado, Rodriguez, Quintero, Falcao

22.6.2018. 22 Jun 2018 3:29 AM (6 years ago)

PICK OF THE DAY

Serbia - Swiss
Tip : GG (both to score)
Odd : 2.10
FT : 1:2 WIN!!!

Making it to the 2018 World Cup was something of a revival for Serbia. Off the field issues plagued their Euro 2016 qualification campaign, and after having points deducted they ended up second from bottom in a relatively easy group, picking up just four points from their eight games there.
Fortunately for them they managed to make amends in World Cup qualifying, topping their group ahead of Republic of Ireland and taking a total of 21 points from their ten matches. Being drawn in a group including Brazil, Switzerland, and Costa Rica you certainly wouldn’t rule them out of making it to the knockout stages.
Serbia got off to a good start on Sunday with a well deserved 1-0 win over Costa Rica. Their star youngster, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, absolutely terrorised the Costa Rica defence with his physicality and skill, but it was Roma left back Aleksandr Kolarov who settled the tie in the second half. This puts them in a very promising position for qualification, although it’s this match that could prove the most crucial to their chances.
Switzerland opened their campaign with an even better result. They faced off with pre-tournament favourites Brazil, but thanks to some excellent tactics and execution they took a deserved 1-1 draw away from the South American giants. Defensively they were excellent against that star studded side, although the fact that they fouled Neymar alone ten times is an indication as to how they played.
This extends Switzerland’s unbeaten run to seven matches, with four of those games ending in victory. Their record is actually much more impressive than that though. Their 2-0 loss at Portugal back in October 2017 is the only time they’ve lost in 90 minutes since before Euro 2016, a run stretching back 23 matches.
Serbia won’t be an easy team to beat though. They are a side filled with talent, and despite their talents being defensive they have managed to score in 12 of their last 13 games. However, they have conceded in seven of those games.
Meanwhile,Switzerland have scored in 16 of their last 18 matches since the end of Euro 2016. This makes a Both Teams to Score bet look very promising, so we’re backing that. These are two very evenly matched sides though, and on the balance of things we think a Draw is the most likely outcome, along with a 1-1 correct score predictions.
VAR is playing a huge part in this World Cup. Ten penalties have been awarded already in this World Cup, and with the World Cup record being 18 penalties in a single tournament, this looks likely to be broken. This makes penalty takers the prime choice for our anytime goalscorer predictions, and with Switzerland’s Ricardo Rodriguez on both penalty and free kick duty he looks a great choice. The left back has scored in three of Switzerland’s last seven games too, so we’re backing him to find the net.
Serbia Predicted Lineup: Stojkovic, Ivanovic, Milenkovic, Tosic, Kolarov, Milivojevic, Matic, Ljajic, Milinkovic-Savic, Tadic, Mitrovic
Switzerland Predicted Lineup: Sommer, Lichsteiner, Schar, Akanji, Rodriguez, Behrami, Xhaka, Shaqiri, Dzemaili, Zuber, Seferovic

19.6.2018. 19 Jun 2018 2:32 AM (6 years ago)

PICK OF THE DAY

Poland - Senegal
Tip : X-X (HT-FT)
Odd : 4.70
FT : ??

It’s been a long wait for Poland and Senegal, but on Tuesday it’s finally their chance to get their World Cup campaigns underway in what could be a very competitive group. Colombia and Japan both have the capacity to qualify from the group, so every result here is crucial.
Poland qualified easily for the World Cup, winning eight of their ten matches and only failing to find the net once. That failure was a bad one though, as they were hammered 4-0 at the hands of a ruthless Denmark side.
Fortunately, their warm up friendlies for the tournament have gone a bitter better than that. They thrashed Lithuania 4-0 in their final game before the tournament started, and that followed a 2-2 draw with Chile that brought a lot of positives with it. Of course, the major negative is the fact that they shipped two goals there.
This is the latest in a string of rather poor defensive performances from Poland. They have kept just one clean sheet in their last five games, and with Kamil Glik out injured their defensive line looks even weaker. Senegal don’t exactly have a bad attacking lineup either.
Sadio Mane is obviously the star attraction for a Senegal side playing in just their second World Cup. But alongside him they have the likes of Moussa Sow and Keita Balde, not to mention a quartet of Premier League midfielders and the towering Kalidou Koulibaly at centre back.
The African side beat South Korea 2-0 in their final warm up game, and they were actually quite good in their 2-1 loss to Croatia earlier in the month. They have only lost one of their last ten games as well, so Poland could be up against it on Tuesday.
We’re expecting goals here. Both teams look very top heavy in terms of talent, and the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Sadio Mane can single-handedly change a game. Poland have seen a huge 13 goals in their last three matches too, scoring nine and conceding four. This makes a Both Teams to Score bet look the best option here.
We’re expecting it to be a tight affair as well though. Senegal may be difficult to beat, but they have drawn five of their last ten games. This makes a Draw look an attractive bet, along with a 1-1 correct score predictions. We’re also backing Sadio Mane to find the net on Tuesday, after an excellent campaign for Liverpool in which he netted 20 goals.
Poland Predicted Lineup: Szczesny, Piszczek, Pazdan, Cionek, Jedrzejczyk, Rybus, Linetty, Krychowiak, Zielinski, Grosicki, Lewandowski
Senegal Predicted Lineup: K. N’Diaye, Gassama, Koulibaly, Kara, Sabaly, Kouyate, Gueye, B. N’Diaye, Mane, Balde, Sow

18.6.2018. 18 Jun 2018 3:27 AM (6 years ago)

PICK OF THE DAY
Tunisia - England
Tip : X-2 (HT-FT)
Odd: 4.00
FT : 1:1 - 1:2 WIN!!!

It’s been a long two years since England’s humiliation in France at Euro 2016, but the time has come for them to try and lay those demons to rest in the World Cup. Their opening match takes place in Volgograd, and they will be expected to get off to a winning start against Tunisia.
Tunisia aren’t a team to be walked over though. They showed that in their final warm up game on Saturday as they almost held Spain to a goalless draw, only for the Spaniards to be rescued by a late Iago Aspas goal. This followed on from draws against both Turkey and Tunisia, so they aren’t a bad team by any stretch of the imagination.
In fact, that loss to Spain was their first in over a year, with them winning five and drawing four of their nine matches in between. Of course, the strength of the opposition has to be taken into account, but just the fact that they went unbeaten in the qualifying campaign indicates that this won’t be as easy as people think.
Gareth Southgate will be well aware of this though, and has focused on keeping everything tight at the back during their pre-World Cup warm up friendlies. England beat Nigeria 2-1 and Costa Rica 2-0 in these matches. Promising results, but victories that were expected given the quality of the two sides.
This does extend The Three Lion’s unbeaten streak to ten matches though, with their last defeat coming almost exactly a year ago in a friendly against France. That historic defeat to Iceland is actually the last time they have lost to a side outside the top 10 in the FIFA World Rankings.
A defender in his playing days, it makes sense that Southgate is opting for stability at the back. England have kept a clean sheet in six of their last eight matches, and that includes games against heavyweights such as Germany, Brazil, and Italy.
Obviously the downside to this tactic is that it leaves England rather stale going forward, and once again this is reflected in recent results. They may have only conceded two goals, but they have only scored eight in the same period. Meanwhile, Tunisia have only conceded five goals in their last six games.
We’re expecting a low scoring affair here, but England definitely have enough about them to take the three points. All but one of their last eight matches have seen fewer than three goals, as have four of Tunisia’s last six. This makes an England Win and Under 2.5 Goals look good value for money, along with a 1-0 correct score predictions.
Tunisia Predicted Lineup: Mathlouthi, Bronn, Ben Youssef, Menah, Maaloul, Shkiri, Khaoui, Sassi, Sliti, Badri, Ben Youssef
England Predicted Lineup: Pickford, Stones, Cahill, Walker, Trippier, Rose, Henderson, Alli, Lingard, Sterling, Kane

15.6.2018. 14 Jun 2018 2:12 PM (6 years ago)

PICK OF THE DAY

Portugal - Spain
Tip : X2&2+ (DC & over 1.5)
Odd : 1.80
FT : 3:3 WIN!!!

The World Cup will have barely been open for business for 24 hours when we get our first heavyweight clash of the tournament, with Euro 2016 winners Portugal facing off against their old Iberian rivals Spain as the fight for the top spot in Group B kicks off.
These two sides are huge favourites to progress from Group B, and with matches against Morocco and Iran seen as comfortable wins for both sides this could actually be the most important game in the group. Whichever team wins this is likely to be at the summit of the group after three matches, so this could be an intense battle.
Portugal defended their way to their Euro 2016 crown, but two years on and they’re yet to bring any particularly promising defenders through the ranks. Their centre back partnership remains reliant on the 35 year old Pepe, and he will be partnered by either 36 year old Bruno Alves or 34 year old Jose Fonte. This could prove an issue when faced with any notion of pace.
Last time out Portugal comfortably beat Algeria 3-0, following on from a goalless draw against Belgium at the start of June. They dominated World Cup qualifying, but they have only won three of their seven friendlies since, failing to beat United States, Netherlands, Tunisia, and Belgium.

Spain also dominated qualifying, dropping just two points in ten games and ending up five points ahead of fellow heavyweights Italy. They scored 36 goals in these ten games, and conceded just three goals at the other end. Since then they have won three and drawn three, leaving them unbeaten since their Euro 2016 exit almost two years ago.

However, turmoil has embroiled the team in the last few days. Julen Lopetegui has been sacked, with the Spanish FA taking the unexpected news badly that he would be the new Real Madrid manager and instantly ended his tenure at the helm of Spain. Spain’s Sporting Director Fernando Hierro will take the helm for the tournament, so at least the players should have some former experience of the man in charge.
Spain were impressive at the back during qualifying, but they have only kept one clean sheet in their last five matches and shipped three against Russia back in November. However, they have scored at least two goals in 15 of their 20 games since Euro 2016 ended, so we can expect to see them pushing the Portugal defence hard on Friday.
To make matters worse, Portugal conceded three against Netherlands and two against Tunisia in their recent games. For this reason we like the look of Spain Over 1.5 Team Goals, and considering they have also slipped at the back recently, we’re also going for a Spain Win and Over 2.5 Goals along with a 2-1 correct score predictions.
Isco is our favoured man to find the net here. The Real Madrid midfielder has become an integral part of the Spain squad in the last couple of years, and operating in a roaming number ten role he has scored ten goals in his 28 international caps. He scored a hat-trick against Argentina back in March, so we like the look of him to score here.
Portugal Predicted Lineup: Patricio, Soares, Pepe, Fonte, Guerreiro, Moutinho, Carvalho, B Silva, Mario, Ronaldo, A Silva
Spain Predicted Lineup: De Gea, Carvajal, Pique, Ramos, Alba, Busquets, Alcantara, D Silva, Isco, Iniesta, Costa

PICK OF THE DAY

Udinese - Bologna
Tip : 1&GG (home win and both teams to score)
Odd : 3.00
FT : ??

Bologna have clearly checked out for this Serie A campaign, following three straight defeats. The latest of those, a 2-1 loss at home to Chievo, showed just how little the hosts have to play for ahead of this weekend’s final round of league fixtures. Bologna are comfortable in mid-table and have nothing to focus on, but the same can’t be said for this weekend’s opponents Udinese. Can the hosts make the most of home advantage as they look to beat the drop?
Udinese shouldn’t be in this position ahead of the final match, having climbed up the table back when Massimo Oddo took charge mid-season. However, his strong start was followed by a run so disastrous that he only spent a couple of months in the hotseat, briefly climbing the Serie A standings with Udinese before seeing them slump in to relegation danger.
The Zebrette were worried about one of the worst collapses in Serie A history, but a victory at Hellas Verona last weekend did manage to boost their chances of staying up. That one win put them up to 15th, and now all they need is another final day victory to survive. However, with their head to head record against their relegation rivals really poor, they can’t risk a slip up.
Udinese has been priced up as heavy favourites, and their desperation means they’re likely to succeed. The fact that the Zebrette have scored in all but one of their 17 meetings with bottom half opposition also boosts their chances of staying up on the final day, as long as they can block the Bologna attack. However, that’s obviously much easier said than done, with the hosts going through a tough spell at the back which has landed them in danger of the drop. They’re without a clean sheet in their last eight at home, and that’s something Bologna can exploit.
The visitors may not be in need of results, but they have managed to score in their last three defeats, which did see them host AC Milan and visit Juventus. Their bottom half scoring record is also impressive, finding the net in 14 of 17 trips. With the home side conceding in 78% of their home matches this season, we think that they’ll have defensive trouble even with their need for a victory. We think both teams to score is the best way to go on this game, which is good value given neither have covered themselves in glory at the back of late. We’re also going for a 2-1 victory for the hosts, as we see them getting the result they need to stay in Serie A.
Udinese Predicted Lineup: Bizzarri; Larsen, Nuytinck, Danilo, Samir; Barak, Hallfredsson, Fofana, Jankto; Paul; Lasagna (4-4-1-1)
Bologna Predicted Lineup: Mirante; Torosidis, Maio, Romagnoli, Masina; Dzemaili, Poli, Nagy; Verdi, Palacio, Destro (4-3-3)

PICK OF THE DAY

Nantes - Strasbourg
Tip : 1&GG (home win and both to score)
Odd : 4.00
FT : 1:0 Lost

After seven consecutive matches without a victory in Ligue 1 and two straight defeats without a goal scored, players of Nantes managed to improve and fight out a 2:0 victory away from home against Angers last Saturday afternoon. First halftime wasn't that interesting, while the guests secured the three pointer thanks to their great start into the second halftime.
Lima brought them into the lead in 50th minute and Coulibaly sealed the victory in 62nd minute, as the home side also tried to react and had some decent chances, but it was easy for Nantes to play from then on as the hosts looked more nervious. Overall, guests showed more during the match and no doubt that they deserved points mostly thanks to more of the ball possession but also more concrete chances created.
Nantes now stands at tenth position and even though they don't have much of competitive motive, no doubt that the team wants to finish the season with a positive performance here.
Coulibaly and Sala will lead their attack in a version of 4-3-1-2 formation together with Rongier as offensive midfielder. Midfielder Joris Kayembe (3/0) is injured for this one. Doubtful are central back Diego Carlos (27/1), defensive midfielder Andrei Girotto (24/1) and forward Prejuce Nakoulma (18/3).
Strasbourg, on the other side, also managed to improve last weekend when the team surprisingly won over Lyon at home with a 3:2 result. It was their first three pointer after eleven consecutive matches without a single victory.
Players of Lyon had much more of the ball possession during both parts of the game, but the hosts took the lead against the flow of the match via Bahoken in 22nd minute. Visitors improved in the second part of the match and reverted the scoreline thanks to goals from Fekir and Aouar, while the very ending of the clash belonged to the home team.
They risked a lot having little to lose as Da Costa and Lienard reverted the scoreline for a 3:2 result in last minutes of the clash. The result could have been different on some other day, but must be said that neither Lyon looked that concrete during the clash as the hosts got awarded for their determination.
Thanks to this victory they managed to seal salvation before the last round of the season as the side stands at sixteenth posiiton with four points more than play-out placed Toulouse and can play fully relaxed in this one.
Guests are set to play in 4-3-1-2 formation with Costa and Bahoken as forwards, plus Corgnet as offensive midfielder behind them. Forward Martin Terrier (24/3) and defensive midfielder Jean Eudes Aholou (35/5) are injured for this clash. Defenders Abdallah Ndour (4/0), Ismael Aaneba (1/0) and midfielder Vincent Nogueira (3/0) are all doubtful coming from injuries.
  • Nantes won seven out of last eight competitive matches agaisnt Strasbourg at home, they also won 5 from last 6 and from those 5 wins 4 of them were with both to score in combination.
Nantes have shown so much more during the season and now with the last round being in front of us, I definitely see them as a strong favorite against Strasbourg. They already won against the opponents earlier in season and now with Strasbourg putting their competetitive motives behind them, hosts should prevail easy or difficult.
