Our teeth change in color with time due to unhealthy lifestyle like smoking, aging also and because of the type of food we consume that causes stains to our teeth. If you want to have a star smile and get rid of the stains, apple will help you with it. Using apple or apple cider is one of the inexpensive and painless ways of scratching the stains.  The acid in the juice of an apple whitens the teeth and brightens your smile. Apple cider or the acid of the apple is a form of natural whitening for the teeth.

What you have to do is gargle an apple cider or apple vinegar for about one to two minutes with a good swish around your mouth.  Rinse after with water to take away the acid from the mouth. Definitely by doing that, there is a whitening effect on your teeth. The main cause is, the acid found in the apple or apple cider will actually eat away the stains of your teeth thus making it gleam. Once you rinse your mouth with water, you flush out the stains and replenish back the moisture and nutrients where the acid consumes the stain.  Thus eventually over a period of time it will definitely give you that nice bright star smile that you are aiming for to achieve.

With that, apple really has a whitening effect on the teeth. Gargling with apple vinegar for faster results is the easiest way of bleaching your teeth at home. By doing this more often, in the near time you will have the prettiest shining pearly white teeth that gives you a winning smile.

I hope this entry is not too late on Girls Talk! So sorry guys I was not able to join here last week. However, I am here now though it's little late.

Talking about gifts, we all have plenty of them from the ones who love us: our family, friends and anyone close to our hearts and most especially from above. In our hearts and souls are infinitely precious gifts that cannot be taken out from us. For me, there's no other precious than the gift of my children. Their being here in my life is the most precious gift itself. With them on my life, I feel I have a home, what joy it is to be a mother of them.

Tuesday Couch Potato: Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey 23 Nov 2009 4:11 PM (15 years ago)



I have missed the last week's Tuesday Couch Potatoes. If you have visited my other blog, you would have known the reason why. But, anyway I am back and am joining this week's edition, Animals Rule! I love this edition as any film which is about pets and animals really find a place in my heart. I am the kind of person who has a soft heart who is easily touched by some heart-warming animal stories.

I was supposed to pick Spirit- The Stallion of Cimarron as this was my ultimate favorite when I was pregnant with my third child. I never get tired of watching it over and over. I love the plot. I love the high-spirited stallion there and more so on his fight for the freedom of his homeland. The musical scores were perfect that really added strength to Spirit's character and journey. However, as this is the feature of our host, I'll go for another heart-warming, funny and lovable animal film- HOMEWARD BOUND: THE INCREDIBLE JOURNEY.

The main idea of "Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey" is three pets, Shadow, a wise old golden retriever, Chance, a goofy, fun-loving American bulldog puppy, and Sassy, a hilarious Himalayan cat who are left in the care of their owners' friend that lives hundreds of miles away on a farm. After several days, the pets begin to worry. Thinking that their owners must be in some kind of trouble, they set out on their adventure home.Along the way they encounter many unexpected surprises but their determination and love for their owners helps them in finding their way. For me, this was an unforgettable story of love, courage and devotion that will inspire everyone who watches it.

Truly a movie for all ages but especially kids will love this. The animals, the beautiful nature, some nice and funny moments, a good heart and a happy ending, everything what a movie for the whole family needs. Of course the story is simple and some events are quite impossible, but with movies like this you are not suppose to ask too many questions and you must not be too critical.

Hi , I was not able to join last week's topic on Girl's Talk as I was so busy last week that i forget to post my entry. For that I will be posting two favorites for this entry.

FAVORITE DRINK


I am no less than a hot tea addict. I go for green teas, fruit teas and Oolong teas. The health benefits of teas are seemingly endless. Teas are powerful anti-oxidant. Aside from the delightful tea taste, you'll enjoy the benefits with every sip of it. I especially love green tea pods straightly boiled into perfection. I live by tea as water. In my office drawers, one of them is my drawer for my stock of tea bags, loose tea leafs, and some tea pods. I got my supply from authentic Tea seller in binondo, some others were presents from my ate in Australia and some were given by my brother in law fresh from Taiwan.

A cup of green tea a day will keep the sickness away..

Drinking Cold water after a meal = Cancer! Can you believe this??


For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you.

It is nice to have a glass of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion.. Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.

Tell it to everyone you know and care for. There's nothing to lose with being health conscious. After all it's our life.

Tuesday Couch Potato: The Cutting Edge 2 Nov 2009 7:02 PM (15 years ago)


It's already November. Whew!! Days are really scurrying so fast. I am excited for my due date when I can see my unborn baby for the first time. November 3rd's edition for Tuesday Couch Potatoes is DRAMA. We'll talk about movies which made us cry, made our emotions soar up high and cause us to be nostalgic way and beyond.

For my top pick and I considered it as drama, though it's more of Romance, I love the THE CUTTING EDGE..

The king of the Rink meets America's Ice Queen.

Starred by D.B. Sweeny as Dough Dorsey (the Hockey King) and Moira Kelly as Kate Mosely theirs was the Ultimate Love/ Skate relationship.

At the 1988 Winter Olympics at Calgary we see Doug Dorsey battered in a vicious hockey game against West Germany. We then see a Kate doing her program and falling when a lift goes bad. Both have fought all their life to get to the Olympics and suddenly the dream has been shattered. The movie then follows a tempermental but talented figure skater Kate through many partners until finally her coach resorts to recruiting a hockey player. Through the difficult training of 15 hours of skating a day they finally prepare for Nationals and the Olympics. A romance is budding and their final show could bend or break them as they try to achieve their dreams of an Olympic Gold medal.

The Cutting Edge is a classic movie and one which I never get tired of watching. I have watched it since High-school and till now at present whenever I feel like watching. It made me cry loads of tears and makes me like a floating fairy whenever I see their last performance at the end part.

The chemistry between Moira Kelly and D.B. Sweeney really heightens this picture, even before you see the impressive scenery and fantastic skating sequences.

The script is filled with quotable gems, (It's not like his nose was perfect) and what could be a fairly thin story (that, OK, has been done before) is lifted firmly out of the cliche zone by first class direction, a thumping early 90's pop soundtrack and breathtaking choreography.

I can't find fault in this movie - it's one of my top five - and would recommend it as a family favorite. You'll surely get the warm fuzzies while watching it. It gives credit to romance and beautiful story of how love can grow from being cat and dog at the beginning.

For the giddiyap that I've got while watching it, this movie gets a very enthusiastic 10/10 from me. Yay!!!

I don't know why every time I'm on the ending scene my heart would always stop, my tears would start falling and my emotions are surging.. I really can't explain.. Can you watch the last scene with me and tell me why I feel like this?

Girls Talk time! Another Thursday, another vain glories for girl's day. Our theme for today is all about favorite accessories. Join us at Niko's Girls Rule blog and talk about all the kikayness under the sun.

Favorite accessories, hmm when it comes to adorning myself, I have a lot of accessories actually that runs from: obviously oversize stoned necklaces, bracelets, dangling earrings and rings and fashion watches. I love to collect them. I am fond of buying such tinkers and trinkets whenever I pass by some accessory shops at Binondo, Divisoria, Baclaran and in malls. Note, I am not into expensive ones. I just go for cute stuffs that are not over priced. However, I only wear the showy ones whenever I feel like wearing it. All I wear everyday are my favorite white earrings , my wristwatch and my wedding ring and some bracelet that goes with my outfit for the day.

It's Tuesday once again and time for anything Magical... It's our October 27th edition on Tuesday Couch Potato. I love this edition as I am also fond of anything with magical spells that works for happy endings.

I don't know if you are familiar with this movie, but this is a very old one but one that I can't forget. Have watched it when I was in 3rd grade way back 1986. However this movie was produced back 1982. Imagine how old that was. LOL..

But mind you, it's an A+ Comedy That Makes the Grade! A comedy actually with the magic of two young people falling in love..

The movie was about a high school whiz kid who accidentally gains telekinetic powers. Barney uses his newly acquired talent to gain control over bullies, win baseball games, roulette, and of course, to win the affections of beautiful girls--including gorgeous Jane Mitchell!

It's a decent-enough comedy. For the most part, you should watch it if you're interested in getting a feel for what the Reagan-era 1980s were like.

The prom scene's the best with Got to Believe in Magic soundtrack which makes the film worth viewing. I remember the " kilig" moments whenever I thought of it. Gee.. I must have fallen in love with Scott Baio.. Ha ha.. Just imagine I would rewind the "Betamax" (it was betamax tape) again and again so I could watch it over and over.. It is just a fun romp into a fantasy that we all probably had when we were in high school, to have some sort of "special power" that made us different from everyone else. I say if you just want to forget today's world just pop in this movie and relax for 1hr 38min!

It's Thursday and Girl's Talk time again. I love this meme, as we got to share our girly girl spirit, kikayness and everything how vain a girl could be. Thanks to Nikogirl for hosting along.

So, this week's theme is FAVORITE DRESS. Hmmm, when it comes to dressing up , I am not as vain as the others maybe.. LOL.. Anything goes for me as long as I think that I don't look awful and feels comfy. Though anything goes with me, as sis Niko said, there would be something we would like to wear over and over again.

Well, I have one favorite but actually it's not literally a dress. It's a green t-shirt. I bought it so many years back. Since I have it, I have worn it nth times.. I can't even tell how many times. he he.. It's a simple cotton t-shirt with an embroidered cat design on it which has a beaded neck lace. This is my only favorite. I suppose it's because it brings back old sweet memories whenever I wear it. =)

October 20th edition of Tuesday Couch Potato is Supernaturals. I love this edition. My type of movies are anything that goes with fairies, ghosts, paranormal, and anything that is from the another dimension. I always love thrill. I love hiding under the pillow whenever it's on the scariest part. LOL. I also find it awesome to see love stories between humans and the non-humans , say the Supernatural love affair. So this week's edition is perfect for me.

The Sixth Sense (1999)
Synopsis:
Child psychologist Malcom Crowe (Bruce Willis) is one night visited by an ex-patient named Vincent, angry, enraged. He wounds Crowe, then kills himself. A few months later, Crowe is visited by a 9-year old boy named Cole (Haley Joel Osmont). He sees dead people who do not know they are dead. Because of this, he is called a freak in school. Crowe, at first thinks he is seeing things, but after spending a lot of time with Cole (much to his wife's dismay), he discovers Cole may be seeing dead people after all.

When I first saw The Sixth Sense in 1999, I didn't know what to expect. I guess I was looking forward to a good scary horror flick. I was very surprised. I found that the purpose for this movie was far greater than just trying to scare the audience. I found this movie was showing not only the emotions of fear, but also faith, commitment, sadness of loss, and love. The end was so surprising, I had to see it again. The second time I watched it, I did it from a totally different perspective (this is a very rare quality for any movie), and I enjoyed it just as much, or maybe even more. I also, as many viewers have, tried to detect fallacies in the story. I couldn't find one. In addition, for those that appreciate great soundtracks, the music only helps to heighten the experience of the movie.

I believe that a great movie is one that helps the viewer perceive life and the world differently. The Sixth Sense is one of those extraordinary movies that does that to me. This movie reflects on some difficult subjects that will make the viewer walk away asking eternal questions. Questions about death, about letting go, about eternal love and commitment, about the love between parent and child, and between husband and wife. Maybe I read too much into this very wonderful film, but I believe it will be difficult to find a movie that has touched on these subjects so poignantly and so well for years to come.

Miracle Monday: He Saved Us from the Storm 18 Oct 2009 2:07 PM (15 years ago)



In our day to day life, there are a lot of miracles that we need to be thankful of the Lord. There are times that we are so full of anxiousness , yet every minute the Lord has been working in ways we cannot see to bring forth His faithfulness to us. I thank the Lord, that I am able to join this wonderful meme , Miracle Monday, hosted by Beth of A Mom's Life.

I was inspired by the words of the author of this meme, yes it is true , we might be thinking that we don't have a miracle to write each week, but if we stop and really think about it, we do. Our miracles doesn't have to be those like of the book of Matthew or having the blind man receive sight, or having a lame being able to walk. Those are not the only Miracle that God has done for us.

My First Miracle Monday:

For my first entry, I would like to thank the Lord, for saving our family from the recent calamity that has damaged the lives of my fellow countrymen, leaving them homeless. Our country, Philippines has been devastated recently with typhoons which cause huge flooding among the lands of Luzon and most parts of the National Capital Regions. I remembered it too well, it was on September 26, 2009. My husband wasn't able to come home as he was trapped somewhere else. He did not make it home as the flood was neck level or even deeper.

That was the first time in forty years that it heavily rained continuously for more than 24hours that has caused rivers and dams to overflow and flooded Metro Manila. The Lord knew that it will happen and prepared our family for that. Two months before that day, we still have not lived in our place today. We have just moved here so recently. It was an instant decision. All of a sudden we found the place small for us and not good anymore so we looked for another one. Besides, I noticed that the place recently is easily flooded when it rains.

I praise the Lord for the inner leading. If we have not move, we could have been flooded. I knew from our old neighbor that water level inside the house was near the breast level. Our home could have been devastated. It would have been so risky for me. I am pregnant and nearing my due date, it could have lead me to early birthing. But thank the Lord, He has led us to move away and keep us safe during the storm. Our new place was safe. It is on the elevated area thus water did not stay but just continued to flow downwards , saving our neighborhood from the pitiful condition.

My heart is torn whenever I see on news how others lost their living, their love ones and their homes. I cannot help but fall into tears and feeling a lot of surging emotion towards them. I just thank the Lord that He has saved us. I can say that it has been one of the miracles the Lord hath performed on us.

I have faith in Him. If we turn to Him , He would keep the storm from hitting your home as He did in Galilee.
I only pray that my fellow countrymen will not lose hope. Our God is our hope. If we only trust in Him, He will do the rest for us. If we remember in the times of Noah, after the flood , He has sent A Rainbow, a promise for a new day, a new life..

There once was a bridge which spanned a large river. During most of the day the bridge sat with its length running up and down the river paralleled with the banks, allowing ships to pass through freely on both sides of the bridge. But at certain times each day, a train would come along and the bridge would be turned sideways across the river, allowing a train to cross it. A switchman sat in a small shack on one side of the river where he operated the controls to turn the bridge and lock it into place as the train crossed.

One evening as the switchman was waiting for the last train of the day to come, he looked off into the distance through the dimming twilight and caught sight of the train lights. He stepped to the control and waited until the train was within a prescribed distance when he was to turn the bridge. He turned the bridge into position, but, to his horror, he found the locking control did not work. If the bridge was not securely in position it would wobble back and forth at the ends when the train came onto it, causing the train to jump the track and go crashing into the river. This would be a passenger train with many people aboard.

He left the bridge turned across the river, and hurried across the bridge to the other side of the river where there was a lever switch he could hold to operate the lock manually. He would have to hold the lever back firmly as the train crossed. He could hear the rumble of the train now, and he took hold of the lever and leaned backward to apply his weight to it, locking the bridge. He kept applying the pressure to keep the mechanism locked. Many lives depended on this man's strength. Then, coming across the bridge from the direction of his control shack, he heard a sound that made his blood run cold. “Daddy, where are you?” His four-year-old son was crossing the bridge to look for him.

His first impulse was to cry out to the child, “Run! Run!” But the train was too close; the tiny legs would never make it across the bridge in time. The man almost left his lever to run and snatch up his son and carry him to safety. But he realized that he could not get back to the lever. Either the people on the train or his little son must die. He took a moment to make his decision.
The train sped safely and swiftly on its way, and no one aboard was even aware of the tiny broken body thrown mercilessly into the river by the onrushing train. Nor were they aware of the pitiful figure of the sobbing man, still clinging tightly to the locking lever long after the train had passed. They did not see him walking home more slowly than he had ever walked: to tell his wife how their son had brutally died.

Now if you comprehend the emotions which went through this man's heart, you can begin to understand the feelings of God in Heaven when He sacrificed His only Son Jesus to bridge the gap between us and eternal life. Can there be any wonder that He caused the earth to tremble and the skies to darken when His Son died naked on the cross? How does He feel when we speed along through life without giving a thought to what was done for us through Jesus Christ? How can you reject Jesus by simply saying I'm not ready, I'm not mature, my faith is different?

FAVORITE SHOES

I admit, shoes is one of my weakness. I am fond of collecting shoes. I love to receive shoes as presents and even rummage the Ukay-ukay for stylish shoes. However, I only go for flat shoes. Never have the fashion for anything with heels. It makes my legs tire and achy. I also have my heart on red, blue, and anything with beads too.

Hi there I decided to tweak my template today as I found a blogger friend who has the same theme as my old template here. Of course I'm no jack of tweaking themes, I just go for pre-made freebies which the online world has to offer.

Hi! I am joining TCP today on October 13th edition. This week's theme is anything about Urban Legend, some creepy, gory stories which are circulated as true and were popularized in Big screen. Well, I have some favorite for that. In Fact it's my favorite thriller and screamer movie for me. Honestly , I have watched it for the zth times already.

Introducing:

Wrong Turn (2003)


The movie is about?

The story is about Chris Flynn driving his car for a job interview in another city. However, an accident with a trunk transporting chemical products blocks the highway and Chris looks for an alternative route through the mountains of West Virginia to accomplish his schedule. Due to a lack of attention, he crashes another car parked in the middle of the road with flat tires. Chris meets a group of five friends, who intended to camp in the forest, and they decide to leave the couple Francine and Evan on the place, while Chris, Jessie, Carly and her fiancé Scott tries to find some help. They find a weird cabin in the middle of nowhere, where three violent cannibalistic mountain men with the appearance of monsters live. The two couples try to escape from the mountain men while chased by them.

What's worse than a leather-faced madman chasing you through the bush with a chainsaw? How about three!! I had my heart racing watching this movie. This is actually my all-time favorite scary flick. `Wrong Turn' was in one word an utter shock to the system. There hasn't been a film this gory, grotesque and chilling in a very long time. Not since the 1970's `Texas Chainsaw Massacre' has a horror film such as this been made. The best way to describe the experience is that if you took 2001's `Joy Ride' and `Jeepers Creepers' added 1972's `Deliverance' then threw them all in a blender. You may come up with `Wrong Turn'.

The tension in this film is harrowing and relentless as it bats you back and forth. You are exhausted and maybe even queasy when you come out of the theater. But if you love horror films then you probably have an ear to ear grin as well.

Jessie: Carly, look at me, OK? Scott died protecting us. We need to keep ourselves alive, or it was for nothing. OK? We're all in this together, Carl. Come on.
Carly: [whimpering] I want him back.
Jessie: I know, I know. Carl, look at me, OK? Look. We're gonna stay alive. We're gonna get out of this. We're gonna get out of these woods, we're gonna find the police and we're gonna make sure those motherfucks are punished for this. OK?

It is really is a nice movie. You have to have this in the horror collection. It's a good one to whip out every now and then, especially before your big summer camping trip. One of the better horror flicks of the 2000's.

Maybe. . we were supposed to meet the wrong people before meeting the rightone so that, when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift.

Maybe . . . it is true that we don't know what we have until we lose it,but it is also true that we don't know what we have been missing until it arrives.



Maybe . . . the brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; after all, you can't go on
successfully in life until you let go of your past mistakes, failures and heartaches.


Maybe . . you should hope for enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, and enough hope to make you happy.

The Chinese believe that every meridian point in our feet is a part of our body system; therefore foot reflexology is the ideal treatment for the elderly, the stressed executive, the sportsman... in fact just about anybody. But did you know that just by observing the shape of a person's feet and legs, you can learn about their characteristics, personality traits and innermost secrets?

When legs are long, lean and smooth, this suggests the person will enjoy a smooth sailing life with few obstacles. You are an active, hardworking and helpful person. You are likely to have a very good life before your thirties. After 30, your life depends on other destiny indicators.






When your legs are short relative to your body, this suggests you are smart, attentive and quiet. You prefer jobs which do not require you to deal with too many people. You may face some obstacles before your thirties, but after that your luck improves tremendously for the better.







Someone who walks with an inward splay suggests they are low profile, preferring the stable life rather than taking risks.

A 54 year old woman had a heart attack and was taken to the hospital.
While on the operating table she had a near death experience.

Seeing God she asked "Is my time up?"

God said, "No, you have another 43 years, 2 months and 8 days to live."

Upon recovery, the woman decided to stay in the hospital and have a
face-lift, liposuction, breast implants and a tummy tuck. She even had
someone come in and change her hair color and brighten her teeth!

Since she had so much more time to live, she figured she might as well
make the most of it.
After her last operation, she was released from the hospital.

While crossing the street on her way home, she was killed by an
ambulance.

Arriving in front of God, she demanded, "I thought you said I had
another 43 years.
Why didn't you pull me from out of the path of the ambulance?"

moral of the story: Love the physical feature you have now. You were created beautifully by the Lord. In fact you were created out of His own image and likeness.

In most cases, kidney stones are formed by substances from the food that people take, aside from rare occasions that hereditary diseases led to stone formation. Diets play a big role in forming these unwanted stones on our kidneys. It is then a good proposition that we will be educated on what these food groups are so we would be able to manage and control intake or if possible eliminate those from our daily food diet.

What to Avoid:

Foods High In Oxalate
Most researches show that oxalate or oxalic acids are potential risks in forming kidney stones. When combine with calcium, the oxalic acid come together to form kidney stones—small shingle that form in either the kidney or the bladder. If these stones are tiny enough, they will pass out of the body without being detected. However, if these substances become too large, they can cause too much pain, making barrier of the urine flow, and sometime resulting to severe urinary tract infection.

Example of foods which are high in oxalate:

Beans
Beer
Beets
Blackberries
Black and red raspberries
Blueberries
Celery
Chard
Chocolate
Cocoa
Coffee powder (Nescafe)
Collards
Concord grapes
Currants
Dandelion greens
Eggplant
Escarole
Fruit cake
Fruit salad (canned)
Green bell pepper
Grits (white corn)
Kale
Leeks
Lemon and lime peel
Nuts

Sodium
High consumption of sodium may also pose threat to formation of kidney stones. Salt and other sodium compositions in food ingredients may contribute to high amount of calcium excreted to the urine.

Food Rich in Protein
Too much intake of protein-rich foods may also contribute to increasing calcium in the urine. Thus, should be controlled or limited in your daily diet.

Some of protein-rich sources are:
• Milk
• Soy Milk
• Eggs
• Cheese
• Yogurt
• Peanut Butter
• Lean Meats, Fish, and Poultry
• Beans, Tofu, Lentils, and other Legumes
• Grains, including bread and pasta
• Nuts and Seeds

Sugar
Large amount of sugar may also increase the tendency of producing calcium oxalate stones. It is wise enough to decrease sugar intake in meals.
The article above does not convey the message that we do not eat all the foods mentioned. Our body, for proper system balance still needs the right amount of each of the food group. However, as concerned enough for our own welfare, we should have the maturing awareness of what could be the implications when we take more than what our body requires. It is not bad to eat those once in a while, just take it in the manner that is according to what we call a healthy diet. Remember, our kidneys are only two. If these will be threatened, we could not buy those again with the money that we earn.
