As grand and opulent as a fine art museum, the 100-year-old R. Mallien furrier building is a Beaux Arts gem on the Place du Grand Sablon in Brussels. The four-storey end-of-terrace townhouse is blessed with original plasterwork, gilded cornicing and frescos, as well as beautifully maintained stonework on the façade. So when its lease became available, the collectible-design gallery Objects With Narratives leapt at the chance to move in.
Nestled among Brussels’ most iconic landmarks, “The Grand Sablon 40” spans over 2000 sqm across three floors, offering a new canvas for our artists breathing fresh life into its rich history, bridging past with the present.
Through diverse exhibitions, art programs and events, we aim to create a dynamic podium for contemporary emerging and established artists worldwide, with a particular emphasis on showcasing the mastery of Belgium’s leading craftsmen.
The gallery is a continuation of curated spaces, each having their own unique narrative. The promenade starts in the famously decorated ballroom where Brussels’ bourgeoisie once had their couture wishes tailored. It serves as a prelude, offering a glimpse into the diverse rooms that await. Adjacent to the ballroom is the re-imagined director’s office, seamlessly blending tradition with a contemporary twist and moving beyond, our classical white cube becomes the backdrop for wall pieces, sculptures, and objets d’art. The first floor unveils an uninterrupted space for dedicated projects, hosting solo and curated exhibitions, while the second floor unfolds as our showroom and polyvalent playground, adapting to the dynamic needs of the art and design community.
The most striking room is the old ballroom beyond the entrance, used by Belgian furrier Raymond Mallien as a couture salon. Here, owners Nik Vandewyngaerde, Robbe Vandewyngaerde and Oskar Eryatmaz have exhibited tables by Mircea Anghel, Laurids Gallée, Cedric Breisacher and Ben Storms, who headlined one of two solo shows during the Collectible design fair .

Located just 15 km from the Balmoral Castle this former hunting lodge of Queen Victoria reopened in December 2018 after a two-year renovation by famous Swiss gallerists and hotel owners Manuela and Iwan Wirth.
Built in the 19th century, The Fife Arms Hotel is a Braemar landmark and is a category B listed building. Its size is evidence of the popularity of Braemar in the wake of Queen Victoria’s visits and her purchase of Balmoral, just 15 minutes from the hotel. Art is central to The Fife Arms experience.
As co-founders of the acclaimed global gallery, Hauser & Wirth, Iwan and Manuela Wirth have been passionately dedicated for many years to modern and contemporary art. More than 14,000 pieces including both antiques and specially commissioned artworks have been thoughtfully integrated into every room, corridor, and corner.
With 46 rooms and suites done in a resolutely Victorian style, The Fife Arms is a hotel with a unique charm. Each room has its own decor, and highlights a piece of the hotel’s history and art curated over 3 years: A quaint fireplace, a pub that’s been the local living room for as long as the locals can remember, an armoury, a watercolour created by Queen Victoria herself or the woody scent that drifts along the corridors and recalls the area’s plants and flowers..
It’s a place where time seems to stand still, and adding to this surreal scene is the hotel’s spa, and restaurants , which are highlights in their own right.
There is The Clunie Dining Room where the art of wood-fire cooking comes to life, and The Drawing Room, with walls covered in Scottish art and antiques, while elsewhere, Elsa’s Bar brings a little Art Deco glamour to the mix, inspired by the signature style of fashion icon Elsa Schiaparelli who frequently visited.

Suites are spread throughout the property’s gardens and palms, their pleasures a bit on the subtle side — they’re set back slightly from the beach, and the vibe is more eco/spiritual than purely hedonistic — but there’s really not a poor seat in the house, as there are worse fates than being forced to bask in a plunge pool, watching the palms gently sway.

Kin Toh, famous for its Instagrammable nests floating above the jungle canopy, serves a delectable menu of Mayan-Mexican delights, from firewood braised lamb and Caribbean lobster to truffled Castilla pumpkin. Tseen Ja, which also boasts picture-perfect views, brings a Japanese twist.
Dining at Kin Toh and Tseen Ja comes at a price but book a place for drinks to watch the magical Mexican sunset over the trees. Clare de Boer, who won accolades at King, branced out with Stissing House, Stissing House is one of the oldest taverns in America. It has played host to feasts for generations. She loved the idea of restoring the building, which dates to 1782, to return to its roots as a tavern serving simple, homey food. The decorations are rustic and minimal — the original plank flooring and roof beams remain.
Celebrate with an intimate group downstairs in the Punchbowl or on the second floor in the Upstairs Bar. Throw a long-table dinner in the oldest Ballroom in America or feast by candlelight in our beamed Barn.
Her menu centers on dishes cooked over a wood fire, like braised duck served with cornbread enriched with duck fat, game pies, and pork shoulder simmered overnight with cider and celeriac.
The food at this American restaurant is excellent. Details like the dozens of Ebenezer Scrooge-esque candlesticks on every flat surface and multiple fireplaces will make you slow down and remember that you’re not in the Big City anymore. It’s a great place to bring a date, or pretend you’re yearning for the freedom to marry for love in a romance novel.

An iconic destination given Rome’s role as Bvlgari’s hometown and endless font of inspiration, the property occupies an illustrious address at Piazza Augusto Imperatore in the heart of the Campo Marzio district.
The hotel is built in the 1930s as the INPS headquarters, Italy’s Social Security agency, its renovation to its current majesty was masterminded by the firm of ACPV (short for Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel) . But here in Rome they truly paid homage to Italian artisans and crafts—the handlaid mosaics were made by graduates of a mosaic school in the province of Friuli, the handblown glass lamps and amber bottles are from Venice’s Murano, and the breathtaking Ginori vases from the 1930s are designs by the iconic Italian architect Gio Ponti.
Channeling that unique legacy, its Roman heritage is impeccably expressed in every design detail — for a monument to contemporary elegance that exudes an extraordinary sense of place. 110 Suites, Spa, Pool, gym, and library dedicated to the history of jewellery, the Hotel will be home to the magnificent Bvlgari Suite, which looks out over the Mausoleum of Emperor Augustus, as well as Bvlgari’s signature dining and drinks destinations: The Bvlgari Bar and Il Ristorante – Niko Romito.

Il Ristorante – Niko Romito is located on the fifth floor of the hotel and provides a splendid view over the monumental tomb of the Emperor Augustus, making full use of a large terrace area. The atmosphere is elegant and welcoming, with mahogany walls, Bvlgari artwork and seating for up to 54.
A true temple of wellbeing, the Bvlgari Spa evokes the atmosphere of ancient Roman baths, with marble columns that rise from the swimming pool and coloured glass to bathe the space in soft, warm light. Encompassing 1500 square metres, it’s an oasis of peace to rebalance body, mind and spirit.
