1. start with clean face x apply moisturizer
2. add concealer to spots x under eyes
3. apply lightweight foundation all over face [i like to dilute with a bit of h2o]

4. dust powder all over face with plush brush
5. apply illuminator to cheeckbones, nose, and cupids bow
6. sweep blush at cheekbones [tip: don't forget to dust ears]
7. apply thin line of eyeliner
8. apply two quick coats of mascara
9. lightly fill in edge of brows
10. polish off your look with a lip x blot with tissue

this little look served as what we will call my 'birthday suit' for a full day of the big 3-0 celebrations that my dear friend lauren planned a few weekends back-- we started with a gorgeous brunch [insert heels], followed by a cake reception, and then made our way to the block street block party [queue teva swap] which is an awesome local festival for day drinks x live music x yummy snacks.
if you can remember, i styled this beautiful leather sheath last fall [seen here] with a button up and OTK boots-- only reaffirming my personal style motto: invest in key pieces that you love x get creative on how to stretch the wear. i think of it as a fun challenge / puzzle: "how many ways can i possibly style this thing" which always helps justify the spend on finer items. . . do you agree?

when it comes to weekend wear, i've been playing on the sporty side of things as of late-- and i'm pretty sure these little teva flatforms singlehandedly sparked the obsession. these orange cuties have been on serious repeat, and pairing them back to other sporty pieces has seemed like the right play [get it?]. old school tevas stir up major nostalgia, taking me back to simpler days growing up summering at the lake... but take it from me, these new styles are far more than boat shoes. pretty soon you'll be hooked like me and want a set in every colorway [at generous price points like $40- 80, you might as well snag a few] score your own pair here... trust, you won't regret it.

in my opinion, coachella is kind of the music event of the year. a bonus to this palm springs event is that the people watching is absolutely legendary; it's a moment when celebrities [i.e. alexa chung x beyoncé x style muse kate bosworth], music lovers, tastemakers, and everyone inbetween flock to the california desert with their style a-game. apart from the street style, it's an insane opportunity to enjoy some of the most talented performers of our generation [florence and the machine. tame impala. hozier. the xx. theweeknd. alt-j. azealia banks. vance joy. alabama shakes. drake. father john misty. st. vincent. etc] during a three day musical sprint.
it probably goes without saying that choosing my coachella festival-wear was half of the fun || this purple playsuit, headband, birkenstock pairing proved to be exactly what i needed for the first day filled with sun + good vibes [sidebar > be sure to check out st. vincent's lavender hair + a killer voice, what more do you need?]

meet amo denim-- this new vintage inspired luxury denim line is a dream. we are carrying it at lola now [almost sold out!] and it ranks within my top five list of must-haves for spring / summer 2015-- just imagine your beloved old levi 501s, but comfy x with stretch. the washes are fresh, the cuts are special, and this line [created by two best friends] is getting rave reviews from the likes of vogue, w, and even the wall street journal.

hi hi! anna here, reporting live from new york fashion week-- and you guys, it's freaking frigid; we're talking -8 vibes. packing for temps like this can no doubt be a bit tricky but i have a few tricks up my sleeve; wear your bulkiest items to the airport, pile on the moisturizer [this one is my #1 go to], and layer layer layer.
