1. Welches Deutsch?

Vor allem in Deutschland, Österreich und Teilen der Schweiz ist Deutsch Standardsprache. Aber wie ist das Deutsche als Standardsprache entstanden? Und wie hat sich das Verständnis vom Standarddeutschen in den letzten Jahrzehnten verändert?
Standardisierung

In Sprachgemeinschaften bestehen im Hinblick auf typische Arten des Sprechens und Schreibens mehr oder weniger feste Erwartungen. Welche Rolle spielen verschiedene Zwecke und Kontexte sprachlicher Kommunikation dabei? Und was bedeutet dies für die Wahl des angemessenen Stils?

Wir leben im Zeitalter medialer Vielfalt und heterogener Lerninteressen. Welches Deutsch ist da in welchem Kontext sinnvoll? Und: Wie muss der DaF-Unterricht auf diesen Wandel der Kommunikationskultur und der genutzten Sprachstile reagieren? Einige Vorschläge.

2. Wer lernt Deutsch?

Der politische, soziale und ökonomische Wandel, ausgelöst durch Globalisierungsprozesse, hat nachhaltigen Einfluss auf die Gründe, Ziele und Interessen Fremdsprachen zu lernen. Wer lernt heute Deutsch? Und warum?
Deutsch in Zeiten der Globalisierung

Beim Spracherwerb stehen „äußere“ Aspekte wie politische und soziale Anforderungen in Wechselwirkung mit „inneren“ Faktoren, die den einzelnen Lernenden charakterisieren. Was bringt jeder Deutschlernende individuell mit in den Sprachunterricht? Und wie sollten sich DaF- und DaZ-Lehrer darauf einstellen?

In den vergangenen Jahren haben sich die sozioökonomischen Bedingungen für den Spracherwerb ebenso gewandelt wie individuelle Gründe und Ziele. Das hat grundlegende Auswirkungen auf den DaF- und DaZ-Unterricht. Welche Herausforderungen kommen dabei auf die Lehrerinnen und Lehrer zu?

3. Wie wird deutsch gelernt?

Wie werden Fremdsprachen erlernt und Zweitsprachen erworben? Viele Antworten auf diese Fragen bleiben in der Forschung hypothetisch. Aber es gibt auch gesicherte Erkenntnisse. Ein Überblick.
Sprachlernen als Prozess

Welchen Einfluss hat es auf das Lernen einer Fremdsprache, wenn der lernende Mensch bereits Kenntnisse in zwei oder mehr Sprachen besitzt? Und welche Folgen hat es für den Fremdsprachenunterricht, wenn die Lernenden Erfahrungen in vielen verschiedenen Sprachen mit in die Klasse bringen? Die Mehrsprachigkeitsforschung gibt auf diese Fragen erste Antworten.

Wir lernen immer die Sprache der Anderen. Der Motor für die Sprachentwicklung ist die Auseinandersetzung mit der jeweiligen sprachlichen Umgebung. Wie aber funktioniert das im konkreten Fall? Und wie lässt es sich für das Erlernen einer Fremdsprache nutzen?
