I'm working with excel macros (which are quite complex) and have been experiencing a problem with "key mapping" around the CMD key.
In Excel Debug - happily stepping into and over subs (CMD-SHFT-I or CMD-SHFT-O). After a little while (not preceise or similar times) I will press CSI/CSO and all I get is the letter "I" or "O".

I just got my new Mac mini M4 yesterday. After setting it up, I connected a 1TB SSD external drive to the Mac Mini. One of the folders in this external SSD contains my music library. In my living room, I have a stereo system and a Bluesound streamer.

I used to use Wondershare's "iTube Studio" app to download utube videos , because it could also download subtitles and it would transfer to a usb stick and watch on my tv. My hearing is now so bad i am almost legally deaf..

the program seems to have been 'turned off' and is no longer supported by the creators, and was a subscription items, but is no longer supported and no longer will download any videos. it was great and was a 'on click' item.

Hi all!
After many yearsof being a Mac guy I switched to Linux about 15 years ago after deciding Apple was never going to make any desktop hardware I would want. And Linux has been pretty sweet.
But..
I am kinda tired of being on the outside looking in at a lot of nice features that Macs have gained since Apple started its own line of CPUs. I use an iPhone so I crave the integration that iOS and MacOS have.

Hello, my iPad Pro 11 inch has been great, but recently it stopped charging with a USB-C to USB-C cable. It still charges with a USB-A to USB-C cable, although sometimes I have to flip the USB-C connector to get it to work.

I've tested the USB-C to USB-C cables on other devices, and they work fine, so it's not the cable or the adapter. It seems like the iPad is somehow rejecting the USB-C to USB-C connection. Has anyone else experienced this or found a solution? It's really frustrating...

I have a 2020 M1 Mac mini, 16 GBs of RAM, 500GB storage (82 GB free) running on macOS Sonoma 14.5.

Hi everybody,

I just did a clean install of Lion on my Mac and in my keychain utility I have two untrusted "system" certificates:

Com.apple.kerberos. kdc
Com.apple.systemdefault

I have done a lot of research online but found so much conflicting info! Some say these certificates should not be there and to delete them, others say deleting them will cause system instability, others say they are a bug that Apple is aware of.

I have a 2011 Mac computer that I'm transferring ownership of. I thought I could wipe the drive and reinstall El Capitan. I realize now I should have backed it up to Time Machine first but I can't go back now. When I try to install from internet, I get an error that there's a file missing. I have restored some user files fromm a time machine backup to a new disk on an IMAC runing Big Sur

The restored files have user but wrong group permissions

the group is set to _analyticusers and should be staff.

When I try a chggrp as root from the shell i get the following:

Since 3 weeks I am getting frequent pop-up ads about viruses that supposedly are waiting to infect my system and to eliminate them buying an Alvira Virus-protection software. My Imac is connected to the ethernet.
I used to be able to use it as a wifi hot spot (share via wifi my ethernet connection). I lost my disk and now with the new disk I am not able to set this up again. My computer also had an older version of the OS before.
In the internet sharing setup, I turn it on. But the Ethernet option (the only option available) is grayed out and my phone does not see the imac as a possible wifi source.

I am up at MacOS 11 and now need to access files turned into a backup in 2014 with a much earlier OS version. Now unlike earlier, I am unable to use the backup via the normal backup option, nor can I mount the backup to search files in it via the Finder.

As I was just about to close up my '24 MacBook Air Sonoma I saw this notification pop up and disappear quickly - something like this: YONGMING ZHANG has been added to your login items.

In General_Login items_Allow in Background there is an item called YONGMING ZHANG. I can't find this anywhere on the computer. With login items you can + or - them, but with the ones in Allow in Background you can't.

Hi guys, wondering why my new iPhone 16 pro max is so inaccurate logging walking/running distances. I carry this phone in my hip pocket as suggested but compared to my wife's Apple Watch and my cheap fitness watch ( both accurate to within 0.1 mile of each other.)
